don't see the ducks doing that trade.. The onyl person they'd probably have interest in are Nylander or Marner for Fowler. Bieksa can just be bought out and it doesn't effect them

Not sure VAN can retain on both Sedin's. IIRC they are already on the hook for two retains and can only have a max of 3 retained salaries.

other way around. Don't see the leafs giving up a 2C that got 55 points, a 3rd line winger he banged hom 20 goals, a B level prospect. and a 1st rounder who we are trying to use to get a guy like Foote, Hague or Makar. Leafs return is a LHD which for a thousandth time we do not need and a horribly contract Scratch Bieksa.

Could retain all $3 million on one contract if that is indeed the case! Still less than the 50% allowed on a single contract!

No cap relief on a +35 contract! Full cap $4 million!

The give from the Toronto side was considered as a fit under the unique Anaheim situation! Both Bozak and Brown fit in currently, Nielson might be a solid 5 two years down the road and the pick! I like Cal Foote as a possible pick but don't think he will be available in the spot Leafs pick! 2017 draft weak, and especially after 2-3 Dmen! Leafs have 4 unsigned Dmen from last 2 drafts along with the remaining prospects currently on the roster! Rosen looks in, as the best of the bunch! Depending on how you see Fowler fitting in, Gardiner could in turn be moved, and or simply the additional cap room and look for a better fit in 18!

Yeah Bieksa isn't waiving for the Leafs, After just settling his family in Southern California. And that doesn't come close to getting you Fowler either.

Why would Toronto take on the Sedins?

The Sedins have both NMC and have said they don't want to play for anyone else than VAN, if next year no extension they might retire or go back to Sweden....

Besides, 4 key pieces on this year success traded away for the sake of trading (That is just not Lou), Grundstrom has just played first AHL games in his career and place him next year in NHL, Aaltonen, 2 year contract for backup goalie...
My opinion is none of this is going to happen
