Projections on a 1-2 year deal have been coming in around this from what I’ve seen. Not sure what a long term deal looks like. He’s a pretty unique scenario.

You’re gonna get killed (rightfully so) on that Weegar deal.

Also could get more for Necas.

That’s fair. Just seems strange a 26 year old would take a contract like that after having such a productive season

I think he takes a short deal to get him to UFA while continuing to rebuild his image and put up great numbers in a pretty perfect situation. He also talked a lot about loyalty and appreciating the canes taking a shot on him, especially with RBA. I know most times that’s just typical lip service but he seemed to go out of his way throughout the year to talk about that so wouldn’t surprise me if he took a deal that made sense for both sides without going to arb. Especially since there’s not really great comps for him given his off ice baggage.

I really don’t know. Honestly now that you’ve mentioned it a two year deal to get him to free agency with a better reputation makes a ton of sense for him. If I’m Carolina I’m wanting more term, but with arb rights ADA is in a good spot here. If he really wants to do right by Carolina he’d go longer term at 5-6 million. If he wants that pay day in a couple years the two year makes sense

Yeah agree with you there. I do wonder if teams hesitate giving him a long term deal given his off ice issues. Might make sense for both him and team to go short route so he has more time to prove he’s matured.
