just pull the picks out. NJ wants rid of Blackwood. If anything the Leafs should be paid (4th) for giving NJ first shot. We'd be taking a chance on Blackwood (though I think he's got a better chance at succeeding than failing)

Yeah I agree while a straight up one for one is feasible , one is signed already to an economical contract

But you're missing the point. NJ wants to upgrade their goaltending. Blackwood hasn't hit the mark. Even though he's signed, he's not currently at the value of Campbell based on play.

I do understand Campbell has played better ( for the most part anyway) of course I'd rather not give up a 2nd but I think a lower draft pick is the going rate for a free agent and sometimes you pay for a players promise like in Blackwood but if you think Jersey just wants to get rid of him then it's one of those things where you start with your lowest offer ,

And Campbell is a UFA, he holds almost 0 value outside of early negotiating rights.

That's the point. There's several teams interested. and NJ isn't prepared to go into next year with Blackwood in the crease. It's a 4th, WTF do you care about that. No one is paying you to take Blackwood off your hands

There's no need to get rid of Blackwood for nothing for the Devils.
