Why would the Islanders take Barrie's cap on? Mayfield is shutdown guy on good contract. They're not gonna trade him for a defensive liability

isles can’t afford to add 3mil in cap for a guy who’d play on their third pair. that said if you wanted to swap mayfield for the mysteriously absent jesse puljujarvi that would be interesting

Mayfield is a top four right handed d man who spent the Barry Trotz era paired with Pelech, Leddy and Toews. Tyson Barrie is a 3rd pair righty who needs to be sheltered. This trade idea continues to make less than 0 sense for the isles.
