    No where close on Mayfield.

Unless a 30 goal scorer is coming the Islanders way, they aren't adding more pieces to the log jam up front.

Seattle declines. Building through the draft. Not likely to get picks from this draft, and certainly not 35 OA. Seattle will roll the dice on finding a puck mover in free agency before talking to EDM about Barrie.

You've got the pick going the wrong way in the Kassian trade. Nobody's paying you for a cap dump. Swap it over and CBJ possibly accept, even though they've never taken cap dumps before.

I would think the Jackets are interested in Kassian, however I have no idea what his value actually is anymore. Every time I see him going to the Jackets, it looks like he's a cap dump and that surprises me because his contract is not terrible. At least that just my opinion on it. I think I saw the Jackets 3rd rounder for Kassian and Edmonton's 1st rounder yesterday.

I Don't see why Seattle would decline, Barrie's contract is fair for what he brings, and a 2nd is not much to give up for what he is, maybe one of the later 2nds that they have would make more sense

what would a realistic trade look like for Mayfield with the oilers?

Rough to say cause there isn't really a match of needs for the Islanders and excess for the Oilers, but a bottom 6er and a 4th isn't it. Everything the Islanders need is probably off limits (Yamamoto/Broberg) and trading a player making pretty much league minimum, who plays 20 mins a night on the right side, for picks when they are trying to win is pretty dumb.

They decline for the reasons I already posted, but guess we'll see.

I know how great a fit Seattle & Barrie looks to be for Oiler fans on here . . . Seattle has the cap space, lots of picks, and even a need for a puck mover! But IMO, Barrie is not option 1, which your trade represents, considering the draft is in a week!
