Description
seattle- yanni gourde doesn’t exactly fit their timeline considering their results last season. trading him now would net seattle a great return for their future, including 2 excellent prospects that would both see time in the NHL next season plus a future first. additionally, i could see seattle being a landing spot for georgiev due to dreidger’s injury and grubauer’s inconsistency last season. seattle could opt for an experienced but still young 1B option that they may not trust daccord to be, while he could serve a role in new york as a cheap backup behind igor. the return for gourde is quite a lot but given the inclusion of nemeth and the long-term retention, it would be necessary.
vegas- nicolas roy may have priced himself out of vegas based on his production and what contract they would be willing to give him. with new york’s need for center depth currently and in the future, they should be willing to pay him over a longer term. vegas could recoup another big, going forward in gauthier who would be a cheap option for vegas in their bottom 6 with a chance to bounce back. most of the value comes from garand, an excellent goalie prospect to add to the pool, and a second round pick.
montreal- jeff gorton may take the kayak back so let him.
contracts/lines- kravtsov fills vatrano’s role as a scoring winger next to 20 and 93, but at a cheaper cost and with a higher potential. roy gets a (somewhat) long-term deal as a young center that drives offense, but starts on the wing opposite panarin, with gourde in the middle as a strong two-way pivot to anchor this line. kakko comes back on a similar deal as chytil to keep the kid line together, who should be trusted with a bigger role on special teams and much more time at 5v5. i brought nico sturm as a 4th line center that can win faceoffs and bring more value on the ice than a rooney-type, but i could see him resigning with the avs or going elsewhere for more term. the defense stays mostly the same, with zac jones finally getting a full time role and troy stecher and sami niku brought in as further depth cause no other team will appreciate them. on the power play, lafreniere finally gets time on PP1 with strome gone, and one of jones/miller kicking trouba off of PP2. gourde and goodrow reunite on the PK!
these moves could help fix the problems that the rangers had this season as well as the problems they are looking at in the future.

The Seattle and NYR's trade is HANDS DOWN one of the only trade these 2 teams has ever done.

Also, here's a list of all the things I don't agree with in this post:
- You resigned Kaapo Kakko.

Not a chance. Kappo's waiting for the offer sheet he can't refuse. If that does not happen he will re-sign with the Blueshirts.

i may be slow but i’m not sure what you mean. are you saying it’s a fair trade on both sides or are you saying it’s outlandish?

Way too much going to Seattle in that deal. And if part of that is to offset the cost of dumping Nemeth, I would rather just Buy him Out and save more.

Vegas trade is closer, but including Garand brings it over the top. Simply removing him would make it work. Otherwise, insert a lesser piece.

Why are we trading Lundkvist, Othmann AND a 1st round pick for a couple years with Gourde?
