I like the pacioretty idea, that would definitely boost our second line scoring

You think hell turn down 8.5 for 8 year to go to New York? Not a chance

The Isles would have to offer $9.7M over seven years to equal the $8.5M over eight NSH can offer. I don't see them making that offer, or Forsberg having a ton of interest in going to a worse team with fewer prospects coming up to play with.

Pacioretty is a very interesting addition-- I think it will cost more, but if VGK is looking to cut salary and he's available then I'd throw an offer down. I can't see NSH being on his no-trade list either-- I like it. And even if Forsberg walks, he might be a cheap replacement to an extent.

Not to mention going to a state with a very high cost of living and taxes. Making it closer to 10. Forsberg doesn’t want to leave Nashville and his legacy here. One day he retires he’ll have his name in the rafters. I can’t say that if he leaves

I honestly don’t see forsberg going anywhere with it looking like Poile and forsberg are closing the gap. If it’s 8.5 or any lower I look for Poile to go after another top 6 forward through trade

I have no idea if VGK would have interest in Kunin. If he can be moved to a different team for a pick or two (SEA maybe?) whatever the return is could go to VGK with Myers. I don't think the Knights are in a position to demand a 1st or anything for Patches.

Keep Pacioretty at the deadline, if NSH is a playoff team. Trade him for futures, if they're not. Either way, he's off the books next summer, when the Preds have RFAs to re-sign (Jeannot, Fabbro, Carrier, Ingram).

Not something I have time for these days, unfortunately. Maybe @GeauxPreds1 or @villenash would be interested in repping the Preds? They're both a little less prone to getting into arguments in these forums than I can be, anyway.

Agree that Knights aren’t in position to fetch a 1st given the current marketplace and Patches injury history. I would ask for Kunin + 3rd though, Myers contract is a no go.

If I’m being picky I’d want a lefty in return since Eichel seems to have better chemistry with lefties. Tolvanen for Pacioretty swap would be interesting imo.

I offered VGK Myers because I thought his unique buyout situation might help Vegas with the cap (buying out Myers gives them an extra $600K in cap space for next season). I'd be OK with Kunin and a 3rd for Patches. I'm less eager to give up on Tolvanen, but other Preds fans might not mind as much.

It's funny that NSH has already traded away my 4th line RW since I posted this. Alas.

It doesn’t give us extra space but the buyout isn’t bad at all. I could see Myers being included but he is a negative value asset. My problem with Kunin + Myers as a base is Kunin’s QO + Myers 600K buyout would still put us too tight to the cap.
I would take Myers off your hands but it would require Tolvanen instead of Kunin to make the cap and value work.

Buying out Myers would give them a negative cap hit (so extra cap space essentially) of $616K for 22-23, and a cap hit of $633K for 23-24. If that helps VGK - cool, but NSH wouldn't include him in a Patches trade if Vegas views him as a negative asset. The Preds can trade him to another team hurting for cap space (TBL, TOR, FLA, etc), or just bury him for the year if it comes to that.

I'd still prefer your Kunin and a 3rd counter-offer, over a proposal that involves Tolvanen.

The report that they're less than 1 mil apart on an 8 year deal really makes it seem like they'll get it done.

I was wrong. That’s interesting (and sketchy). I think the value is fair enough but both assets aren’t the best fit for Vegas imo. I’m not opposed to moving Pacioretty though and not a lot of teams can fit him in.

The Myers situation is an anomaly due to his having a backloaded contract and being under 26. As sketchy as it may seem, it is 100% legit and allowed.

If Kunin isn't a fit for Vegas, the most I'd offer for Pacioretty is a 2nd and a small plus (Myers, if VGK wants him, or a long shot prospect if not). Like you say, Vegas doesn't have a ton of teams to trade with that can fit Patches in without retention. If NSH can get him cheap enough, I think he could be a smart add. But he's not someone I'd pony up more than that for.
