No on moving Matt Roy, especially now that we've traded his anticipated replacement in Brock Faber. Sandin is interesting, and the first is interesting, but I think that Alex Iafallo would be the centerpiece of such a deal.

Adding a lot of new pieces in that trade for no particular reason it seems. If you trade Sandin for a RD should probably be for Durzi+, doubt they would toss in Grundstrom but if you want him back, do a trade for Durzi+Grundstrom for Sandin+, although LA probably will still go after Chychrun for their LD needs but perhaps they would be intrigued by Sandin.

Iafallo would make more sense than prospects for the Leafs when they have their own, he would be a nice replacement for Kerfoot and perhaps works well in the top 6 if not Robertson can be given a look again.

What do you think a trade for Iafallo+Durzi with Sandin would look like?

That move is probably do-able from the Stars' perspective. Dallas has 3-4 (Gleason, Shea, Cecconi, Petrovic) defenseman in the AHL right now who can probably slot in as a 7th defenseman, so they can afford to move Hanley. I think it makes sense for Toronto since they probably don't have the money to keep Kase and bring back everyone they want to, so will need a few $750k contracts this season as bench depth.

To play Devil's advocate from Dallas' perspective, though, if Suter gets traded or bought out and Dallas brings back Klingberg, then Hanley could probably be playing on the 3rd pair with Hakanpaa.

Lindell Heiskanen
Harley Klingberg
Hanley Hakanpaa

Iafallo and Durzi for Sandin and your 2022 first is a good possibility. Iafallo is a great 200-foot player who would be one of your best defensive forwards.

Sounds like a possible trade, would suck to lose Sandin, and I don't think Durzi has the same ceiling but if they don't got anyone they like at 25th I could see them doing something like that for Iafallo, so that they could toss him on a line with Kampf and Engvall for a shutdown line and they can give Robertson a chance with Tavares and Nylander again. I do belief the Leafs were intereseted in Iafallo once, it's a move I wouldn't hate but I would prefer they give a 2nd instead since I think they could get a good prospect at 25th in this draft.
