4th round pick for a guy that's barely an NHLer. Don't really get the point of this trade for the Jackets.

Seems like the kinda guy you can sign for league minimum in FA. I wonder what they see in him to give up a 4th?

Seems pretty steep for an enforcer but I guess CBJ needed one so

Wish it had been McCarron instead, but still good value for NSH.

No idea why CBJ does this, they already have too many forwards

we traded a mid-round pick (which, knowing our scouts, would have maybe become a serviceable NHL guy)

for a player with over 11x more penalty minutes than points over his entire career

i don't like this one too much

CBJ overpaid for grit, and barley any grit at that. At least for Oliver it sounds like he'll be on the team. I doubt they paid a 4th just to send him to the minors, Nashville wins

Nashville made me think they traded with Toronto as it was our pick they traded

Just say we traded this player for a 4th thats it no need to be that specific lul

Also man CBJ overpaid

Could have got Gabriel via FA for free

I mean, CBJ got their enforcer.

Probably didn’t need to pay this much for one, though.

At least he’s vaccinated. Hopefully.

Olivier is worth a 7th round pick, maybe a 6th.

Nashville wins.

Nashville wins because they get the Leafs 4th rounder which automatically guarantees that it is a superstar

Sometimes I wonder if NHL GM's sit around and go "I'm bored. Let's make a trade."

Then they go and fork over a 4th rounder for a bottom-six grinder at best and a mid AHL-er at worst.

Seriously, what's the thought process here (on CBJ's part)?

The Preds have had their share of 4th round hits - Saros, Carrier, Arvidsson, Ekholm, Craig Smith, Tootoo.

It's an overpay for sure but with rumours coming out of Columbus regarding acquiring Kassian, I wonder if this trade blocks that kind of move in the future.

A fourth rounder for a grinder and not having to acquire Zack Kassian? I wouldn't call that bad value.

Overpay. Worth more of a 5th or 6th rounder.

I really like Oliver as a player but I have to wonder what Columbus was doing. Fourth round even early fifth there still is pretty good players around.

Gave up a 2nd for Lauzon, now got a 4th for Olivier? Talk about chaos reaching it's "poiling" point

This is what I was thinking as well. That said, a 4th only turns into a 100-game player about a quarter of the time, while they have a less than 50% chance of playing a single game.

4th rounders have a less than 50% chance of playing a single NHL game and less than 25% chance of playing more than 100. Furthermore, most of the time, these players take 3 or 4 years to reach the NHL.

Olivier is not even close to worth a 4th. Win for NSH.

Barely even an NHL player. He should have little to no value, let alone a 4th round pick
