Dial down the volume a bit, lot of assets moving. Lot of money retained.

Makes sense for Arizona to deal Schmaltz because his deal is super backloaded. They probably retain max 2mil (which comes out to more than that in real dollars). Ownership is pinching pennies so they'd opt to retain less even it means a lesser return.

Something like Schneider + Nemeth + 3rd for Schmaltz (2mil retained) - maybe a lower pick if one at all since Schneider's pretty coveted.

Why on earth would we move Schneider instead of Lundkvist? Schmaltz is okay, but he’s not a high end young center. He’s a decent 2C (still not convinced on a cup contender though he’d be a good enough 2C).

Nothing in for Arizona....big retention. Georgiev may not worth his contract, Nemeth isn't worth is contract...and no reason for Nemeth to have Arizona on his trade list.

Arizona isn't retaining 50% on Schmaltz for a bunch of worthless pieces, Nemeth has no value Georgiev is a glorified backup Lundkvist hasn't proven a thing yet. Arizona as it passes big time.

I mean Lundkvist is honestly the better player unless you're Gerard "Kevin Rooney is a better player than Kakko" Gallant.

Arizona passes. Nothing enticing in that offer. I think there’s several players that profile the same as nils at the end of the 1st, early 2nd, where we have 6 picks

I guess we’d need to see them both out there. I’m just not a fan of having a bunch of smaller guys on the back end. We’ve already got Fox. I’d prefer to fill that lineup with guys who are larger and more likely to withstand the rigors of the playoffs then smaller guys. Dream d core if they hit potential to me is Miller - Fox, Lindgren - Trouba and Robertson - Schneider. They’d be mobile, big and nasty. Guys like Jones and Lundkvist are likely to be fantastic players, but at the end of the day, you need guys that can play the position and not just be another forward.

Yeah I mean I'd rather players who don't treat the puck like a hot potato any time there's some pressure on them regardless of size. Would size be nice? Sure. But it's a secondary priority after something like being able to navigate zone exits with control and not just throwing the puck out to center ice and hoping for the best while we just end up getting out shot 2:1 every game.

I completely agree there. That got painful to watch after a while. That’s one area where I think Zac Jones could’ve helped tremendously, but I’d have better lucky winning the lottery than Gallant putting Jones and Schneider out there together.

yeah honestly I'm not sure this run was actually good for us. Gallant is no different/better than AV and going as far as they did probably bought him an extra season that he doesn't deserve. I mean maybe 2 of our Dmen could legitimately move the puck with control in the playoffs while 2 great puck movers sat in the press box.

That’s what worries me the most. This run is going to make them do something hasty like overpay for Miller or Kane. And if they don’t win, then we’re looking at another decade of mediocrity since they’ll have too many aging guys on big contracts and not be able to resign the remaining young guys, supplement the lineup with prospects or players drafted since they traded them all. It’ll be the 2010’s all over again, which aside from maybe 2011-12, 2013-14 and 2014-15, I don’t think they were ever good enough to try and win a cup. The runs were so much fun to see, but the idea of repeating the process of trading all young guys and picks away to make a run scares me.

Nemethis will cost a 2nd to unload, Georgiev might land a 6-7th if we're lucky, making this Nils for Schmaltz & 3m retained for 4 years lol
