No. Just no. Canes aren’t trading for Boeser, nor are they trading Morrow unless it’s for DeBrincat.

I dont see it happening, but it's an interesting proposal considering Barbashev is also a UFA at the end of his contract.

They don’t ‘need’ him but he is a great player and wouldn’t hurt…

I don’t think they will move Bolduc or Neighbors unless it is for someone with years of control

So we are going to send these assets or JT Miller for 1 year? We don't have the cap to sign him to a contract beyond this year. He is rumored to want between 8-9 mil and we can't afford that

I said I wouldn’t do it. But saying the Blues don’t ‘need’ a guy that put up 99 points last year doesn’t seem like an intelligent comment

Miller would be really good luxury for us, thus making him not a need for us. I want the blues to get JT Miller but they don't need to get JT Miller. Us having Miller isn't going to make our defense better which is a need for us. That's why I see he isn't a need

Ya one of the Canucks beat writers mentioned the blues might have some interest in him so just wanted to do something a little different for once.

Barbashev had a really good season but he also had an unsustainable shooting percentage of 23% so you can probably expect some regression. I like the player though he's definitely solid.

Maybe the blues end up moving Taresenko (not sure where things stand with him at this point) for some defensive help.

Just FYI: Barbashev has had two seasons with higher shooting percentages. It's not out of character at all, especially considering he got PP2 net front spot time for the first time and many of his goals come from lurking for rebounds and loose pucks in dangerous spots. He's a selective shooter.

Ya he does have a higher shooting percentage than most players and this past season isn't the first time it's been up in the 20's for him. But when you look at averages around the league it is still quite high even for goalscorers. I don't think it will regress substantially because he has a proven history of a high percentage but I do expect it to go down from this past season.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say St. Louis management is interested in Miller and believes they can re-sign him, do you think this trade is close or how far off is it?

It's off. And sorry, but that hypothetical is barely worth pondering. They cannot afford a luxury item like this. And he would absolutely be a luxury piece.

"It's off."

I'll take that with a grain of salt since you can't consider the hypothetical. They wouldn't be the first team to make an unexpected splash and they won't be the last either.

In a different world it's a fair trade and the blues would do it. The blues are a bad trading partner for Miller tho. We aren't going to be trading for him. Plus most likely we keep Tarasenko. We have Thomas, Kyrou, Tarasenko, and ROR up next year so we have no cap for Miller

Thanks I appreciate the consideration of the hypothetical.
