The contract is really scary, 4 more years at that dollar for an older guy with a ton of miles on him. I have no doubt he'd help for a while but its a risk. I wouldn't pay a lot for him.

McDonagh would absolutely be the best partner with Seider. They could be a formidable top pairing duo.

With the amount of good LD available from teams in cap trouble this is an unneccesary risk. If the contract had been two years then it would have been fine but not four years.

This is exactly what a trade would look like. Tampa is about to experience the 2009-2010 Red Wings. Luckily for Tampa Yzerman and Breisbois did a much better job than Holland. They still have all the core pieces in place. Still going to have a very good team just not as much depth or consistency with the same depth. Mcdonough to the Wings for this price is acceptable.
