TB Will Hate It Until

Created by: dtd_tank
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2022
Published: Jul. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
...until they find out what that 7.7M in cap space can buy them in FA this year (assuming Zadina signs for 1.4M). Johansson is likely ready to jump onto the team and Zadina could very well be a threat on a team as deep as TB.

Detroit says no. Cirelli is not worth taking on 4 more years of $7 million of an aging mid-30s D, no matter how good he is today.

Also, Zadina is wait and see while some unqualified but knowledgeable observers think Johansen may develop to be better all-around than Edvinsson and possibly Seider. Seriously. If you watch his tape, he is looking damn good, and very good positionally in all situations. I can trust the locals who see him all the time when they say he looks to be pretty special.

Doesn’t make sense for DET. That’s a type of trade a contending team makes. Cirelli upgrade is nice, but it’s a marginal upgrade. I’d leave out McD altogether.

Every year I hear people say the same thing, yet the've made 3 cups in a row and to the conference final 6 of the last 8 years with a 4th appearance in the SCF. They'll be fine.

Doesn’t change the fact TBL is in a cap crunch again. lucked out with the cap game Kuch injury year. Y’all are losing 1-2 notable pieces every year, still relevant for sure but nowhere near the powerhouse TBL once was. Palat gone this year. Next year looks concerning for TBL, 4 UFAs and 5 RFAs, 2 of them being notable RFAs. You’re definitely in a better scenario than some of the other teams like PIT tho.
