I’ve got to believe Middleton is easily worth a 2nd.

I think keeping Killorn over signing an aging Statsny is best for TB's continued success.

Doubtful Ryan McDonagh returns a late 2nd round pick, he's 33 years old making nearly $7,000,000 for the next 4 years. Probably no more than a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Can we also doubt that McDonagh is going to waive to non playoff team and leave Tampa.

I don't think it's out of the question for him to waive for Detroit, Yzerman was the one that traded for him. And now his former assistant coach is Detroit's new head coach in Derek Lalonde. he's won 2 cups and being a partner with Mo Seider could be enticing..

McDonagh can make up his own mind. But really I don't think the Wings and virtually no teams are enticing to McDonagh since he can end his career and play four more years with the very good Tampa team.

losing Killorn to sign a 3year older stastny is foolish at best, and very disrespectful to the longest playing member of the orginization.

Oh i totally agree i don't see him moving, With the Nick Paul signing Tampa now is officially over the cap by some $5,133,333. So moves have to be made. Probably Killorn and Sergachev are the ones who will be out the door.

And that is likely McDonagh's comment to Tampa's management if they even asked him to waive his NTC. "Need cap...don't sign Palat, and/or trade Killorn or Sergachev."

You just told me in another thread that MCD won’t waive for LI, but you think he would go to Detroit? Dude lol

Yeah because Yzerman traded for him to Tampa, plus his former assistant coach is now Detroit's new head coach in Derek Lalonde. bet he'd waive for Detroit long before Long Island. Why would he even want to pay those high New York taxes anyways?

He’s paid those NY taxes before lol. Detroit has a bright future but is further away from competing than NY. Idea that he would rather play on a team that’s gonna miss the playoffs next year is kind of ridiculous.

It’s not about the money tho. That’s what you told me about Killorn going to Seattle lmao. You are a decent dude and all I’m saying is maybe you should say you want MCD in Detroit before declaring he wouldn’t put on a fisherman Jersey lol.

I don't see why we'd even trade him unless we get an offer we couldn't refuse. He should be pretty cheap for a top 4 D and if Dumba walks in free agency we're looking at a top 4 of Brodin, Spurgeon, Goligoski/Kulikov, and Addison shakes head

I’ve gotta think Faber factors into the discussion the season after Dumba’s gone too. Maybe not break camp with big squad but a call up. Russo was speculating BG and the scouts think Faber is close to NHL ready now.

I dunno, he'll be 20 after next season so personally I'd like to let him marinate for a year in the AHL. But eventually, yeah, he'd be in the discussion.

I think they’ll make him start in the AHL for sure, but I bet he comes up mid season. His defense is so damn good, add in the skating too. The offense will lag behind but it’ll catch up eventually. Not all age 20 guys are the same, Faber has done a lot at a high level already, he feels more advanced than a normal kid his age, but that’s just my opinion. I don’t think it makes sense to stick him in the AHL for a year no matter what, feels like if he does well down there, he should get the call up.

There's a lot more to the NHL than tougher competition. Putting guys in the AHL acclimates them to life as a professional hockey player, which by all accounts is drastically different than playing at the collegiate or junior levels. It's less about "sticking him in the AHL no matter what" for me than it is to teach guys to become pro players and develop them both on and off the ice. I get what you're saying, he has that Olympic experience and his game should translate well to the NHL, but I don't see how keeping him in the AHL for a year does him any harm. A lot of what you're saying was also said about Greenway and while Greenway has turned into a decent 3rd line guy, I think a year in the AHL would have done him a ton of good. I just don't see the point in rushing Faber into the NHL. Let him develop and go through the transition phase in Iowa where he can play top pairing minutes and PK duties instead of throwing him on the 3rd pairing and sheltering him for 8-10 minutes a game.

Maybe something was lost there. If he’s ready to be an NHL’er, then he should be in the NHL, not the AHL.
