Ooooofff that is a bad deal. You don't sign depth to term, ever.
CF users once again demonstrating a total lack of understanding in risk of term is pretty funny. This contract is awful and is extremely unlikely to age well in the near ish future let alone the next half decade +

Good for him though.
I think the landscape is changing regarding these depth players. They are so crucial for a team that wants to contend. Coleman, Lowry, Laughton, Jarncrok, Goodrow, and now Paul are all guys that can play up and down the lineup and chip in on all situations. Even if in three or four years Paul becomes stapled to the fourth line, it's still a very reasonable cap hit. Tampa's window is now so sacrificing term for a lower AAV is necessary.

3 mil for a 4th liner is not only not crucial, but massively detrimental to a team.
You don't pay depth, and never to term. Tampa did both here. Notice how most of those contract you cited are awful already, and the one that isn't (coleman) is significantly better than Paul is
Absolutely LOVE this for Paul Nick, former Ottowa Senator. So happy to see how far he's come. Remember watching him as he was starting to come into the league and absolutely losing my mind watching him yo yo back and forth while Guy Boucher continued trotting out his parade of losers in the bottom six. Paul had to overcome so much to get here and I'm so glad he's cashing in like this. What a sick player.
I will say I'm shocked the response to this is as positive as it has been. I was expecting a 4 year deal, in the 3.25-3.5mil range, so to see 7 years was a little shocking.

What’s funnier is paid professionals created the deal and believe it’s good. Too much ego on yah head for internet points.

Would you say Kassian has a good AAV ? Is he worth the money now, probably. If he ends up being a 4th line staple, it’ll be an horrible contract. I voted no simply because this locks some longterm money for a role Tampa could afford getting for cheaper.
I honestly don't understand the hate on this deal, even if it's 2 years too long, the cap hit isnt tremendous and by then the cap would be around 90M I would think, if not more. He was one of their better forwards in the playoffs and knocked out the leafs in game 7. 21 Games in the RS with TB and 14pts to show for it. I dont see him being a "depth guy" but really good potential to be a 2nd liner. If he plays 2-3 seasons with 55+pts, Big W
