That's a bit too much from the Pens. Either a 1st or ONE prospect.

I’m gunna assume everyone will think it’s a bit too much from there team.

It’s a bidding war and Canucks have set a high price. If a team wants him, I’m hoping Canucks get real value back

Interesting. I’d be shocked if he gets more than what Giroux landed, but a full season I guess could land a better prospect… I knew they didn’t want picks so swapping the late first and a 3rd you probably get 2 good prospects in a deal but if you can get more, go for it.

Totally a bidding war. I'm just saying what the Pens would actually give up. You have remember that Hextall is a very conservative GM who doesn't really budge. That may mean he loses out, which has been a criticism of his, but my point is that he won't offer more than that. Just trying to inject a little reality of what the Pens would actually do/offer.

          Canes deal is interesting
The cap dump can eat you Suzuki

Avs i think is high but they overpaid for players this year and they played huge roles in winning the cup

Pens I just can’t see Hextall making a risk like that

Leafs deal doesn’t make sense for me but would interesting to see a counter

Caps need to make a big move. Having one of the greatest of all time and only landing one cup would be a huge embarrassment… they should go all in but still not sure at that price…

          Interesting offers though

Morrow is a non-starter from the Canes - it might be different if Miller was more than a season away from UFA

Am I wrong? Would u give away one of the best rookies in the NHL who can play C and Wing for a 29 year old winger on an expiring contract due for a 3m pay raise?

Biggest difference being Giroux had a full NMC and only wanted to go to Florida. That heavily reduced his value.

Miller has no protection and allegedly a LOT of teams are interested

Dawson Mercer’s 0.51 points per game was 11th among rookies who player at least 20 games last year. And his underlying numbers don’t exactly jump off the page.

Similar rookie stats to Nils Hoglander

I actually think the NJD offer is one of the least valuable I posted.

Newhook had a similar caliber rookie year. The Avs package is probably more valuable overall.

Also I like how you describe JT as a “29 year old winger on an expiring contract due for a 3m pay raise?” Lol. I guess it’s technically correct but of course leaves out that Miller also plays centre and just put up 99 points and has scored at over a point per game of the least three seasons and would significantly help NJD terrible powerplay and plays penalty kill and fills of a position of need.

Plus NJD retain their 2nd overall plus Holtz which are both way better pieces than Mercer.

But w/e if a middle 6 winger with some top 6 upside is the deal breaker for you that’s okay. Lots of teams interested as previously mentioned

The “rumors” of the Canes this off-season are pure speculation based on assumed fits then they try to turn that into rumor. Hilarious.

You don’t think the Canes make a big move this offseason?

Unlikely. They won’t pay for big UFAs nor do they have much interest in paying premium value in a trade. Think like the TB office was doing until they became bonafide contenders.

Jarvis isn’t moving and it makes little sense to move a young asset like Necas for a rental

Aight. I wonder why they get so much speculation this offseason

"If Canucks trade Miller they will be aiming really big" lol if I buy a lottery ticket I will be aiming to win a billion dollars, its just not going to happen.

I've said it so many times before on this site and I'll say it again -- no one, literally no one in the NHL has or will be moved for more than a 1st, an A prospect, and cap filler. Yes, Giroux's situation made him less valuable than Miller, Foligno got a 1st, Miller is a better player than Fiala, etc. -- it does not matter. As long as you are at least a second line forward, you will return exactly one first round pick and one A level prospect, no matter if you're Josh Anderson and barely a second line talent or Jack Eichel and a bona-fide superstar at age 23. For all of these packages take the worst prospect/young player you included, remove everything else, and add a first. It will be disappointing, it will not be good value, but that is what you will get.

The canes don’t have leaks and don’t have the media coverage to where hundreds of people are out there fishing for rumors. Canes moves come out of left field.

Unless the front office completely changes its philosophy, we see 1 LW add one 3-5th day of FA for undervalue because other teams have moved on. Maybe a guy like Puljujarvi too in hopes he improves. Or a guy that a capped strapped team moves for under value to fill out their roster.

What players????? Go to the trades tool and find me the last time a player was moved for more than that. Hagel got two first rounders exclusively because of his contract and Tampa's unique cap situation. The last player before that to get back two first round picks without some sort of pick swap was Brayden Schenn in 2017!!!!! Both of those guys also just got two first rounders and did not bring A level prospects back. Eichel got a first and Krebs. They were lucky to get Tuch because they needed to balance salary. O'Reilly got a first, tage thompson, and a bunch of junk. Mark Stone didn't even get a first!
