Reaves does nothing for Chicago, and him playing there isn't going to help his trade value going forward. So essentially this is a Dach for Georgiev swap. Chicago has young goalies that are developing in the AHL and college. Georgiev might make sense for the Hawks if they were getting ready to exit their rebuild and just needed a goalie who was ready to take the reins and be a #1, but they're not at the point yet. They're a good 3-4 years away, and their prospects are likely going to be ready by then. In the meantime in goal, they'll likely take a salary dump goalie, or sign a cheap FA that teams can light up on a nightly basis. That's not to say if available the Hawks wouldn't take Georgiev, but they're not going to give up one of their better center prospects to do it. Not without something else coming with him.

Any traded that start with retention gets an automatic decline from the habs, this isn't even close to get the habs to do it... getting a really good young-ish middle 6 C who can win you key face offs for 3 years at 3M a season will cost you a hell of a lot more than kravtsov and lundqvist
