Staal is probably the worst example, but yeah I get that one. Thing is, sometimes that 3C costs too much (Gourde) and it gets cap difficult. I'd love a 3C at defensive 2C level for under 5M. Kk is gonna be a value contract in 1-2 years.


but then you're so deep into over paying a guy simply to be your 3C. they've dumped so much capital into hoping a guy can be a bottom 6 player, it's a really poor investment that could have been spent elsewhere

Except a really good 3C can elevate his linemates to be more than checking guys.

yeah, but a simply ok one is worth 2.5 mill or a 3rd on the trade block. KK has a better chance of being an ok one than a really good one
