Bring McDonagh home

Created by: Super_Randy
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2022
Published: Jul. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First off I think that McDonagh is NOT a cap dump but Tampa is between a rock and a hard place when it comes to cap space and hard decisions have to be made. This trade saves them $3.25M in cap for the first year, $4M the second year if Poehling is not signed and saves them the full $6.75M for the last two years of the McDonagh contract. Also gets them another pick in the 2022 draft.

For the DAL trade I would be willing to retain up to 50% on the Petry contract but would change the 2022 2nd to a 2023 2nd.

For the PHI trade if I did not retain 50% on Petry I would be willing to take a cap dump from PHI up to ~ $3M. With Price on LTIR I would even take JVR.

Wtf

Relax its mostly for fun. Thinking along the lines of getting another 1st in a draft in MTL and then using it to move higher up in the draft for another top 5 pick would make the crowd go insane and would make for quite the show.

You can get a 1st without taking on McDonaugh
Drouin won’t return a 3rd just like that
DAL aren’t trading Bourque
Wtf is Ratcliffe doing on the 1st line
That ain’t Junior
What is Joshua Roy doing, he wasn’t even playing in the AHL in the playoffs, he was an healthy scratch
Nemec isn’t NHL ready
We don’t know if Price is healthy are not
EsoYeezus69 and Hockey247 liked this.

McDonaugh has a NTC, but TB and him are working together to facilitate a trade. There is no way he is considering MTL.

Stars decline easily, not trading Bourque plus a 1st for Petry and extra assets, that’s a horrible exchange for them.

At most maybe a Petry retained for 2022 1st, and even then I’m hesitant.
