That statement couldn't be further from the truth. All a TDA signing would do is block more powerplay time for Bouchard and maintain the ineffectiveness of the Oilers blueline in their own end. They need another Ceci-esque defender to pair with Keith full time while Bouchard moves up the depth chart to the second or top pair.

I think Tampa made out like bandits here. Nashville just took on nearly $7m for 4 years on an NTC'd 33 year old with hard miles from a team that needed to clear cap space. They did the Lightning a favor.

Tampa doesn’t get attached to players which is a big reason why they are successful. They traded a fan favorite/shutdown D as soon as they see him start to decline

Good trade for both teams
Nashville had a ton of cap space to work with and can still resign Forsberg (this move might even convince Forsberg that Nashville is still contending)
Tampa clears over 7M in cap space for this offseason and for the future. They can now resign Palat
