I love Mikheyev and what he brings to the ice but **** that’s a lot. Let him walk

Wow, Mihkeyev wants that much? No one should pay him that

Agreed

Im happy Mikheyev proved many people wrong with his strong performance this year after the poor performance the year before

But 5.5mill

Yeah **** off

3-4mill is what hes worth on a 4-6 year deal

Honestly the solution to the Sandin ironically is simple and it helps fill in another hole

That solution move Rielly to the Wing

As if you look at how Rielly plays and the concerns that people have about him being a Dman

All that can be fixed by moving him to LW/RW

As then you can see the following team

Rielly-Matthews-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Nylander
Engvall-Kampf-Kase
Whoever on the 4th line

Muzzin-Brodie
Sandin-?
Giordano-Liligren

Or you go to Rielly and say are you willing to play RD. And knowing him he would probs do it if it meant keeping Sandin

As Rielly got his contract, has shown he can play both sides, and I believe Muzzin-Rielly or Giordano-Rielly wouldnt be a bad idea

Has Rielly shown he can play both sides? I seem to recall it not going very well every time he tries to play RD. Hence why the Leafs STILL have a hole at RD like 8 years after it was identified. And I just don’t think guys get moved from D to F anymore, or at least not good players. Typically only press box guys do that these days, and normally enforcer types (MacDermid, Geertsen, Pysyk are the only guys I can remember since the likes of Burns/Byfuglien a decade+ ago).

I found 2 quotes to best sum this up

"In practice the right side of the ice is where Rielly does most of his damage. His goal chart this season shows he’s most dangerous on his off side/wing:

6957ae6877c685fd490392f141303200

And then this quote is why I think he would be a perfect wing

"Rielly lacks a heavy slap shot, Rielly has made things happen this year by being opportunistic on the rush"

Idk about you but that screams winger to me.

But in general Rielly does have the ability to play his offside heck most of his goals come from his offside. The main issue was Babcock being old school and going your a LD play LD. Keefe has played Rielly on the right a few times and in transition plays I have seen Muzzin-Rielly play together here and there

Now will Keefe want to commit to that potentially yes. Rielly is the guy to me who you could probs go to and say hey can you do this big favor for us. After all hes got his money and honestly I dont think we would see a production drop with him on the wing or RD. In fact I think we would see a increase.

Like no joke Rielly-Matthews-Marner could become a line next year and from this play seen I dont think there would be an issue

I wish its Kevin Weekes (who’s reportedly out of the running) - I want our draft selection to come from a stall of the Bell Centre or from some poutinerie in Montreal

Also - the expectation is that Mike Grier will be the Sharks GM - former player.

NHL
Mike Grier, if true, would become the first black GM in NHL history

A little more context.

I personally didn't vote Leafs as annoying. They're a misunderstood bunch stuck in purgatory (where they belong Sticking Out Tongue )

And I did say Lightning fans were annoying.

Bruh why is Detriot so low. They’re top 3 easy.

Nick Kypreos said that the Lightning pretty much told Mcdonagh they were going to waive him and Columbus was going to claim him if he didn’t work with them on another trade destination

It’s a business at the end of the day, i respect it.

Need more teams to be like this. Sentimentality kills competitiveness. You can’t afford to get sentimental over an aging 2nd pair D. Maybe Stamkos or Hedman gets that kinda treatment, but honestly nobody else deserves it, it really bugs me when teams are like “yeah this guy has been our 8th best player for like 5 years, we can’t possibly move on from him now that he’s declining.”

I bet there are a lot of old school GMs who aren’t going to like hearing what went down with Mcdonagh. They probably thing sergachev should have been the odd man out.
