Dream Team I know some are unrealistic - Minny fans looking at you

Created by: Dannydanger
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2022
Published: Jul. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously most of these trades wouldn't happen but this is the team I'd love to see on the ice next year. Main focus is to revamp the bottom six, while trying to secure players on reasonable contracts with term.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Offloading to get Foligno on the team (anticipating the only way Leafs could ever get Foligno is if they took additional cap on as well). I do think Muzzin has value - his injury history is suspect but he was one of, if not the best dmen on the team in the playoffs.
2.
TOR
  1. Dumba, Matt ($3,000,000 retained)
  2. Foligno, Marcus
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (MIN)
  4. 2022 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
I really think the Leafs need some more heart on the team and I really think Foligno would be the right man for that role. The only way it would ever happen is if it was an overpay and if the Leafs took on additional cap given Minnys cap situation - the retention on Dumba would be with a different team (Chicago or Az).
MIN
  1. Hirvonen, Roni
  2. Holl, Justin
  3. Kerfoot, Alexander
  4. Robertson, Nicholas
  5. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
  6. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
3.
TOR
  1. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
CHI
  1. Källgren, Erik
  2. Mrázek, Petr
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (MIN)
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
  5. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
4.
TOR
  1. Dowd, Nic
Additional Details:
Overpay for a fourth liner but I think it's key to lock in well trusted and solid fourth liners who are on solid contracts with term.
WSH
  1. Abruzzese, Nick
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
  3. 2023 5th round pick (TOR)

At best, Muzzin doesn't have negative value, but no way is LA giving up 3 draft picks for him.

Kings might consider Muzzin at 50% retention in exchange for Sean Walker. Aside from that, they're not interested.

Strome might not even get qualified, what in the world kind of trade is that?

F it, I’d do that as a Wild fan. Get all the 1st round picks.

One big overpayment by the Leafs in the Minni deal and Chicago deals ....then no reason for other teams to make the other trades.

I’ve had it out with Wild fans multiple times on here, but I think we would all agree they would take that deal and run

You accidentally clicked on the Kings draft picks instead of Matthew Knies or the Leafs draft picks.

Not a chance Minnesota does this. Minnesota would still be able to get a mid to late 1st for dumba. So essence, you are offering a 1st round pick, a prospect who hasn't done anything, cap dump in Justin holl, Kerfoot and nothing. There's nothing you offer to have Minnesota trade away Marcus foligno. Dumba isn't a cap dump. Somehow Minnesota add two 2nd? Yeah so nothing but 1st and prospect

VAN decline, Schenn is a solid stable partner for Hughes.

You do understand that dumba would still get a mid 1st to late 1st right?

Kerfoot is nothing
Justin holl: cap dump
Roni: b or c prospect
So I'm essence it's still the same crap of 1st round pick and prospect he's offering for dumba and treating dumba like cap dump.
Minnesota giving up two 2nd= 1st round pick and more. So he's not giving up anything

Minnesota is giving up Marcus foligno and dumba
Giving up two 2nd round pick which equals 1st round pick

He's offering
Nothing in Kerfoot
Nothing in Justin holl : cap dump
And would essentially be the same thing he's posted in past but this time he's treating dumba like nothing along with Minnesota two 2nd round picks for nothing but 1st round pick and prospect along with c prospect for Marcus foligno and dumba. Sorry, this us a bad offer for Minnesota

Really? You lost any knowledgeable fan when you said Kerfoot is a nothing. Minni good two better picks, plus two hopeful prospects.

Then scratch that and just sign Boosh or PK for free. Let's say no picks are involved - why would Vancouver say no to solid player they could sign for $2-3million for 2-4 years just to keep a 32 year old UFA?

If he were moved he'd fetch something - probably not two 3rds and a 1st but they would fetch something.

Welcome to CapFriendly!

As a newcomer, you're unaware of the thousands of discussions that have occurred over the Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles idea. Here are the basic points:
(1) No one can ever properly explain why Muzzin would waive his absolute NTC to leave home and play for a team with a lesser chance to win the Stanley Cup one more time before retirement.
(2) Muzzin's cap hit is a particularly bad inroad into Los Angeles' explicitly-expressed overall off-season strategy, which is to acquire a young #1LD with term; Muzzin is none of the three.
(3) At this point, Muzzin's on-ice value (without respect to Cap hit or retention), considering his last regular season and injury history, probably isn't a second-round pick when adjusted for risk.
(4) Los Angeles can probably re-sign Alex Edler, or acquire a similarly-talented free agent, who will be cheaper than Muzzin both in cap hit and cost to acquire (specifically, none) and provide the same level of performance.

Keep trying and don't be discouraged. The greater the venom expressed in contrary opinions, the less likely that the responder is to be right.

Then only trade for Foligno and don't go after Dumba then? You can't really think that Billy G wouldn't say yes to a package that included Kerfoot, a 1st, Robertson and a 2nd for Foligno? What would it take to get just Foligno done then, in your mind?

Yo, thanks for the reply! So, I'm actually in the camp that believes that Muzzin won't be moved this year - it makes no sense given his situation. In all honesty, if the Leafs really wanted to clear some cap I'm sure they'd move him for next to, if not, nothing.

Kerfoot is nothing. Minnesota has plenty player like Kerfoot and Kerfoot at best would be 4th line Winger or c on Minnesota. But Minnesota has better , cheaper player. Holl is a cap dump. Leafs fans trying to stick holl on wild fans and can't deal with being told no. So yes, would say no because of who foligno is. Guerin has rejected a trade fit foligno when offered a 1st round pick and prospect . Foligno is going nowhere.

Dude Kerfoot is a bottom line players Minnesota has plenty of. Minnesota isn't getting two picks here considering Minnesota is giving up two 2nd round picks which equals 1st round pick. Two hopefully prospect? You mean Robertson and nothing? Minnesota has better prospects, so try again. Amazing leads fans offer their crap and get defensive when told no.

Ignorant. Holl is a cap dump and he's not good. Apparently leafs fans will offer wild fans that 1000 time until you finally hear yes. We don't want Justin holl. Keep him and stop trying to force Kerfoot ir holl on Minnesota fans
