He’s played his last game in a Rangers sweater. It’s a shame because I think he still has middle six potential.

And now he agrees to an 800K deal
Guess that extra 50k must've really swung it tears of joy

Rangers will probably trade him for a 6th Rounder

It’s easier to trade a guy if he’s signed, especially if he’s still going to be a RFA at the end of the term, though it seems to me it would be better to allow other teams to negotiate a contract with him before they agree to the trade, which is apparently what happened with Fiala. Maybe that’s too much work for a guy like Gauthier.

I think Gauthier would be a great pickup by another team. Considering his low cap hit and massive frame, he's a guy most teams should look at

Sign and trade. Trade targets are much more appealing when they have, you know, a contract

That guy is a bust. Good shot but nothing else.

Trade him already so that we never see AGMs trading him to MTL ever again.

Gauthier is quite literally a mini-Kreider, except he has an extreme lack of scoring touch. Uses his underrated speed and big frame to drive to the net like Kreider, but he just does not have the finish to cap it off. Shows why he has some of the worst finishing stats in the league: low goal count on some of the most high danger chances in the league. He creates, but he cannot convert. If he can fix that scoring issue, he could be something interesting.

Too bad that "something interesting" won't be as a member of the New York Rangers.
