Detroit says no. Don't want Compher, and Hronek for Girard is only a small upgrade. Hronek is a long game development and probably becomes a stud in his late 20s and early 30s. Hronek shows flashes of top pairing for a few games, then barely looks like an NHLer for a few games sometimes. He needs to figure his game out, which, with a new coach, might be attainable now. Not an asset Detroit moves without significant upside.

Instead of Girard for Hronek (DET would have to add quite a bit), do something around Girard for Bennet.

Why not give Kuemper that kind of money? Better to bet on a goalie you know if they're going to roughly cost the same. At least in my opinion.

With the LHD prospects Detroit has I wouldn't trade Hronek for Girard. Especially since Detroit has no one decent to replace Hronek.
