Are you suggesting that Arizona trades for Keith to buy him out, then Edmonton resigns him for less? I don’t have the rule in front of me, but I would be nearly certain that would be cap circumvention.

In this case you cannot dream lol. The only return you could get for Barrie is Richard Panik and you would have to retain 50% to do so.

It is. And highly illegal since the CBA changes in 2020.

Do you know where that is listed in CBA? Few reporters in Edmonton seem to think its legal

In the CBA specifically, I'm not sure. But I know for a fact that it got changed in the 2020 CBA ratifications mainly because of and after Brooks Orpik was traded to the Avs from the Capital's, was bought out by them, and he was re-signed by Washington.

It was seen as cap circumvention by the league and that particular loophole was closed.

I'll see if I can't hunt it down.
