READ EXPLANATION PLEASE.

We know this team can play very well without having a very good 4th line as seen in past seasons. Would it be crazy to not go for broke and just let some of the youth play??

By signing Engvall it keeps the third line partially intact, obviously Miky has priced himself out of the roster but Blackwell is a decent replacement I think for that line. This line would continue to be the shutdown line.

To make the cap work Kerfoot would need to be traded, the value and team I chose are just place holders could be anyone and any value really.

This sets up some cap space and brings up some of the young players to see what they have. If it does not work they could look to add at the deadline or throughout the season.

Also did the opposite of most leaf's ACGM's and did not trade Muzzin and his NMC. I think they will sign Sandin and look at shifting Muzzin to the right side and play them together. This leaves Holl as the 7th D man and really you could save 2M by trading him and adding a different depth D but why I think he is fine as a 7th D man.

Bought out Mrazek as it seems like the most logical solution. No point giving up assets in a trade.

Lastly the goalies. I am not sure of the value but based on what I am seeing on here in other ACGM's I think they are both fairly close. Comrie could be a good future starter possibly and with the help of having MAF as a mentor could make him better.

Now I do not have full faith that Robertson is the answer in the top 6 but in saying that he has never been given a real chance to prove himself either.

There are some interesting names in the FA that could fill out the bottom half of this roster but Dubas has said that youth will have a chance. I mean it cant be worse then running a Clifford, Spezza (love him) Simmonds 4th line.

Let me know if there's anything different that would make more sense ie. Abruzzese over Douglas or even flipping blackwell and either Anderson or Steeve's to put a more veteran player with two younger players.

Who takes Nylanders spot when Keefe inevitably puts him with Kampf and Engvall? That second line would look pretty bleak if Robertson doesn't step up. It would be one of the kids on the 4th line, which would pretty much make that second line useless.

All the more reason to not trade Kerfoot.

Ya I guess that would be part of the risk. In this case I guess they could keep Kerfoot and not resign Blackwell, use Kerfoot to flip with Nylander if needed. Or move Holl and keep Kerfoot???

Try and swindle MAF to sign a two year deal (edit: didn't realize you've already done so). Then you decide who your long term goalie is. Whether that's Kallgren, Woll, whoever. Bring them up and back up MAF. Saves you over a million in space, it's enough to keep Kerfoot with the scenario you have here.

Worst case scenario, move Holl and find yourself a Bogosian type of player in the bargain bin to be your 7th defender.

Agree with almost all you did. But gotta think the Leafs need Kerfoot at centre in case of injury because Douglas isn't any NHL answer.
