Canucks probably can't afford Dumba in a year's time unless JT, Pearson/Dickinson and Poolman are traded. I think Woo and a 2nd probably gets that deal done too. No condition for a first with multiple picks though.

You can have trade conditions based on whether or not a guy re-signs or not

If you're MN's GM, I think this is just an offseason where you make your draft picks, sign Middleton, find a goalie, and then go to the beach until camp starts.

I think that would be a bad strategy. We were exposed down the middle in the playoffs. If BG’s only upgrade at C is Rossi, then we’re pretenders again.

It wasn't just the Playoffs MN was exposed. They couldn't compete with CGY or the Central Playoff teams during the regular season either. MN only had 2 regulation wins (9 regulation losses) in the 18 games against DAL, COL, STL, NSH and CGY during the season. 1 of those wins was the last game of the season when COL sat their good players.

The cap just isn't there to do anything that would matter. Run with what they have until close to the TDL. It really is hope and pray that everyone can repeat their career years, plus Rossi and Jost become 60p players next year with Boldy on the 3rd line. Wait until the TDL and pickup a rental. Then probably get bounced in the 1st round again.
