Description
What are the offers. I have pushed this around as I expected it. Canes talking head, Adam Gold, is now saying it is likely. Gold isn’t the most reliable guy but he was the first to mention we would sign DeAngelo. His insider knowledge has improved over the years.

I mean, wouldn't it be in Carolina's best interest to keep the rights and basically just entice a team to offer sheet with no intentions of matching? At some point DeAngelo will sign somewhere on his own. Probably get better OS comp than his RFA rights now

Carolina wants a 2 year deal which makes sense for salary structure for the future and has little risk due to contract length.

TDA wants one year or 6-7. Im betting our 1 year number and his 1 year numbers are off. DeAngelo can bet on arbitration. With DeAngelo’s offensive numbers the arbitration ruling has a wide gap in range. I don’t think our mgmt team wants to hold 7 million in cap space for a month until the ruling is over.

The list of teams capable of an offer sheet, has the cap space, and would have interest is less than 5, imo. I don’t feel an offer sheet is much of a threat. Knowing TDA will be the one that initiates arbitration, his window to negotiate (officially) an offer sheet deal is 4-5 days. Making it even less likely.
