Not even close to being worth it. They really are asking a lot.

This is probably what they’re asking for. Looks like they want a similar package to what they traded for Seth Jones

Some team will end up overpaying but idt it's worth it in the end. At least not for the sabres

I want ottawa to get him. But we have no cap space to pay him 9+ mill longterm. That’s the problem

Idk, that forward group is set, draft Casey and that d is pretty close, UPL is a wild card but they got Levi.

You’d have to guarantee a longterm extension or else it’s not worth it

Blackhawks would be crazy to decline that package. If they are trading him before 2022 draft, I cannot think of a team that would offer more.

I am guessing the trade that was declined was :
- 2022 1st round pick (VGK - #16)
- 2022 1st round pick (FLA - #28)
- Casey Mittelstadt

Friedman said it was a “reasonably high 1st pick with another 1st round pick and a not great prospect…but still a young player who can still play

It may be enough if they just switched #16 to #9 or Mittelstadt to Peterka…or something similar.

Jack Quinn and 9oa ain't it. They are getting one or the other, not both.

Jack Quinn is looking like he could shape up to be a player with a similar ceiling to DeBrincat, so I will definitely pass on trading him. 9th OA, Mittelstadt, Portillo/Johnson, and a 2nd in 2023 is the most I would offer, but Chicago probably says nah

Sabres decline. Quinn can be this 40 goals scorer that DeBrincat is, and no way he is part of the package.

I hope Quinn works out. Debrincat is already there

I got no issue giving up 9OA and 28 as part of package. But Quinn, Krebs, Peterka and Cozens are off limits there.

No interest in The Cat if that’s the price. Rather just keep on the slow steady path

That might get it done. I'd rather take Johnson over Portillo. I do like Portillo a lot, and you can never have too much of a good thing, but I think goaltending is the least of CHI's worries right now. Especially with Soderblom and Commesso on their way up. Plus we don't have anyone close to clear cut top four potential. We do currently have a logjam at LHD and Johnson might not be a clear cut top 4 defenseman, but I'm pretty sure he would be our best LHD prospect if he came to CHI.

Agreed. I like Quinn's overall game more than DeBrincat's. I also like his size advantage. Plus developing Quinn costs our franchise nothing, but paying hefty for DeBrincat does and then you have to pay him 8-9 mil on his next deal to boot
