Unless he's a piece in a massive blockbuster, the Jets decline. Samberg is going to paired with Pionk in the top 4 next year. If one of the young dmen goes it would be Heinola or Stanley.

I think the Jets would and should pass on that.

Tampa is not retaining that much for that long.

I made some significant changes to the roster. In the McDonagh trade, Tampa still retains an amount, but it is noticeably lower than before. I didn't know his contract had four years left. I deleted the Barbashev trade with the Winnipeg Jets and added Barbashev to the McDonagh trade. I know the Blues are interested in McDonagh and reported as a possible fit, but if Tampa doesn't retain salary, the cap gymnastics don't work unless the Blues give up several very valuable pieces (Barbashev and Kyrou in particular).

Ok. I didn't realize he was even a piece of much value. I removed that trade and made Barbashev a piece in the package for McDonagh.

Honestly, if Tampa doesn't retain salary, the trade isn't going to work. I guess we'll have to look elsewhere. Ethan Bear? Oliver Kylington? I have no idea where we would go from here.

being they can ice a 22 man stanley cup contending team without this trade makes that utterly stupid to do on their part no offense .

It would be very difficult for Tampa to retain that for 4 years. Tampa would also likely want a capable dman coming back, so I'd guess they'd want at least Mikkola as part of the trade. The retention is very difficult though.
