"Friedman on 32TP says momentum is building for an Alex DeBrincat trade, he heard that one team offered a reasonably high 1st RD pick and another 1st RD pick and prospect, not a great prospect but a young player who could play and that wasn't enough to get it done"

Might Elliotte Friedman be referring to Ottawa?

According to the Fourth Period, Ottawa is reportedly one of the teams linked to DeBrincat.

I mean, it potentially was ottawa, and that trade seems similar to what Friedman said, and if so, then it would be understandable why the Hawks rejected it, it might need another prospect like Greig or JBD

It would be fun if something like this happened! Would love to see Ottawa be good again! Would make for some fun games against the Leafs.

I think Chicago needs to sell Kane and Toews. But I would keep Debrincat. Just extend him 8 years.

But a trade like this if something else is added would be intriguing.

CHI fan here. Yes I would turn down that package. The #7OA is nice, but this really isn't THAT much better than what Hagel got. But, I'll admit my bias toward TRad immediately too. Having watched (ironically) Debrincat play in Erie at the same time...there's were serious questions as to who was driving the play. TRad hasn't been able to find NHL ice time, but he's a VERY good prospect. Obviously you've seen what Mathieu was able to do once he was allowed more ice time.

7th overall pick this year, plus there's no guarantee OTT would be a playoff team next year in a tough Division and Conference. I think CHI would look long and hard at this if it was offered.

If that was actually the deal that was offered then good for Dorion getting the ball rolling with a lowball. Obviously not a deal that would get accepted but need to start somewhere.

Two 1st's from TBL are definitely a lot lower value than 7th OA and another OTT 1st next year.

If Ottawa doesn’t make the playoffs with Debrincat, Norris, Batherson, Stutzle, Tkachuk, Chabot, Zub and Sanderson, someone should be fired .

For sure. That’s way too much talent. Only concern to me is goaltending. I’d personally try to sign Capmbell or Kuemper at least for a few years to stabilize the back end.

I don't necessarily like Brannstroms play in the NHL thus far, but I get the feeling that I believe in his upside more than most other Hawks fans and hockey fans in general. That being said, it is possible that this was the trade that got turned down, because I wouldn't do that. It's missing AT LEAST one more significant piece coming back to CHI and yeah probably some protections on the 2023 pick. Top 10 protection maximum but I'd say top 2 to 5 would be the most realistic.

I think it's pretty clear based on the rumors of what Chicago is asking this won't get it done.

If Im the blackhawks Im turning this down as there are no desirable prospects that fit their system worth the 7th overall pick and theres not value in a lottery protected pick

The last thing the Hawks need is another LHD young player or prospect who doesn't have a really really good shot at being a 1st liner. Hawks need forward prospects. Pinto and or Greig (plus the 2022 pick and the 2023 pick if both Pinto and Greig aren't included) need to be included to make it work is my guess. With the 3 pieces, maybe top 5 protected on the 2023 pick....maybe

No doubt, but Taylor Raddysh is a superior prospect than Brannstrom, Plus there's Boris...too which idk

Glad the hawks wouldn't accept this. I don't even think it's particularly close to what it would take too. Brannstrom would need to be Grieg or Pinto and another piece added in as well
