Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
EJ has the TB/LV injury until the playoffs. JT/Girard are booted for salary. I could go another 1st for JT. Nuke/Arturi are kept at team friendly deals as I gave length instead of AAV boosts. Byrum/Newie get RFA deals. MAC gets length and a 10.5mill AAV.

Detroit laughs. Middle 6 for two 2nds? Lol. Try adding a 1st for Detroit to clear cap space. The Miller trade is solid.

Going with one goalie a whole season is risky.

Compher isn’t worth that. Mack has to start at $11M probably is sitting at $11.5M AAV for 8 years

Detroit for sure declines. The Miller trade is good, especially if they find a way to sign him. I'd imagine an overpay for Miller, but this is only a slight one.

No, Avs decline. This is an overpay and they can’t afford to re-sign him. You have $29M in cap space next summer, which sounds like a lot but you need to re-sign:
- MacKinnon
- Miller
- Jarnkrok (or a player for a similar role)
- Meyers (RFA)
- Newhook (RFA)
- Kaut (RFA)
- Byram (RFA)
- A starting goalie

There’s just no way the math works. The Avs shouldn’t be giving up a package like this for a one year rental.

No, Avs decline. This is an overpay and they can’t afford to re-sign him. You have $29M in cap space next summer, which sounds like a lot but you need to re-sign:
- MacKinnon - 10.5
- Miller 7
- Jarnkrok (or a player for a similar role) - No resign
- Meyers (RFA)
- Newhook (RFA) - 3.5(RFA money)
- Kaut (RFA) - 850K
- Byram (RFA)(again rfa money 4.5
- A starting goalie 3.5

Can work if the players take length vs up front money. Mac can go higher but he take the chance of leaving no room for support and he never sees another cup. When it comes down Miller can leave and yes it hurts but he is another landy player so around 7 can work. Goalies as seen so far should never get paid alot. I go with a cheaper solution.

I don't care if I get 2 picks from Det. Will make the trade work.

This doesn’t work. Miller taking $7 is a huge discount. If he was willing to accept that, he would already be signed somewhere. MacKinnon at $10.5 is probably likely but there’s a chance he gets more. MacKinnon and Miller combined are probably going to get somewhere close to $20M.

But even with those discounts, you are still over the cap by $400K and 2 roster spots short. The Avs don’t need it re-sign Jarnkrok and Meyers, but they do need players to play that role.

Miller to Colorado just doesn’t make sense with how the team’s roster is currently constructed. He would be a pure rental. You don’t trade a 24 year old top 4 defenseman with term and 3 top 60 picks for a pure rental.
