Realistic Debrincat Trade Part II

Description
Sorry, haven't had enough coffee this morning and inadvertently deleted my prior post.

In reading the trade offers for Debrincat on this board, there have been a lot of offers of a low first, a B or C prospect and a cap dump. According to Elliott Friedman and others these are nowhere close to what Kyle Davidson is looking for to come back. Keep in mind that Debrincat is controlled by his team for the next two years, so that's where he differs from someone like Fiala. Minnesota had to trade him, the Hawks do not. I see Kyle Davidson looking for a better offer than he got for Brandon Hagel, and is willing to keep the Cat if he doesn't get what he wants. So this is my rationale for this trade.

I chose New Jersey because they have the most attractive talent pool and the 2nd pick overall is enticing. Jersey fans, don't hate on this. I'm not saying that this is the trade that I'm proposing, only that this return is the type of return it will take for the Hawks to trade Debrincat.

Are you sure you're getting enough back for DeBrincat?
Don't you feel like maybe adding the Hughes brothers would be in order?

Lose the 2023 and 2024 picks and the Devils still decline because they can just go after free agents and make the pick at 2oa

Again guys, this is not what I expect to happen, this is the rumor going around from sources like Friedman about what it will take to get Debrincat. Do I see it happening, probably not. I know it's a huge overpayment but that's what Davidson wants right now, especially, after what he got back for Hagel. Again, he doesn't need to trade Debrincat, it's just that a deal like this would probably be the only one he would consider.

Well, that is quite an overpay and not at all reasonable or realistic

If you read what I posted, I only chose the Devils because they have a good talent pool. This could be any team, that has high first rounders and a good talent pool.

It doesn’t matter what he wants, you think Minnesota was desperately looking for a better price than a mid rounder and Brock Faber? Asking for 5 1st round picks including 2OA is ludicrous and completely ruins the relationship between Davidson and Fitzgerald moving forward. That trade is for someone like matthews or McDavid, not Debrincat. This whole “realistic” take is closer to just wishful thinking.

Hey now.
I never said anything to the contrary.
What Davidson wants, Davidson gets.
Everyone know that's how today's NHL work.

I would never dare to suggest otherwise.

You realize the difference between the picks Hagel will get, the 31st overall and another very likely extremely late 1st are combined worth tremendously less than the 2022 2nd overall pick alone right? Right????

Then you add in 2 MORE 1sts, AND a high-end prospect AND another young player.

This is laugh out loud ridiculous

I agree it's an overpayment and probably not realistic, but the trades of a low #1, a B or C prospect and a cap dump aren't realistic either. My guess is that Debrincat signs a long-term deal with the Hawks to be part of the future core and all this trade talk is moot.

Folks, again, this is what's going around the internet right now (and if it's from the internet, it must be true). The angst about this fake trade is laughable. This is an internet board, none of us is an NHL GM and 99% of us (including myself) don't know anything about these picks or prospects.

Well as said above, it seems delusional that a rebuilding team (New Jersey) would trade multiple futures and little cap back to a rebuilding team (by this post.
Rebuilding teams with cap keeping their picks and ELCs and maybe spend for a UFAs. Playoff team LA gave up a 1st and second for five years of Fiala. A non playoff team isn't giving up so much more for two years of DeBrincat. If that's all you'll accept for DeBrincat, well he stays a Hawk.

The rumors going around were that the sabres were asking for 1oa + zibanejad + for eichel, that Arizona wanted 3 firsts + for Chychrun, and that MN would only trade Fiala if they got a young NHL player back. For anyone wondering what return DeBrincat, Pastrnak, PLD, Miller will get, look through the trade tool on this website filtered to those including 1sts. Until Hagel this year, the last player to get traded for multiple firsts without a pick swap was Brayden Schenn in 2017. NHL players just do not get moved for these types of massive packages that fans think they should be. Yea it will be better than a 1st + B prospect, but it will be a lot closer to that than the package you have here.

No team will ever give 3 straight firsts.

This is way too much.
