This might sound ridiculous, but I always think big...should we attempt to free up some more cap space in order to make a run at Shattenkirk? Having a top 4 that consists of Hedman, Fowler, Stralman and Shattenkirk would be near unstoppable.

I think we would be able to bring in Shattenkirk if we were to dump Callahan's contract. We might have to give up a second round pick or a good prospect to do it, but if it means we bring in Shatty I think it's worth it. Even after that, we'd have the money to resign Kucherov and Fowler long term

Teams were asking for 1st, Cernak or/ and Howden. Don't want to part with them. Try to see if you could get a 4th for Callahan if we also send Yan.
