I think McDonagh definitely makes Nashville better. But that's a lot of money spent on 3 LHD.

This is definitely a win-win deal to me. The obvious is the improvement on the d line for Nashville.

Ekholm or mcdonagh has to move to their weak side in my opinion. My question is Poile done with trades because I see this trade as a move on the wanting to contend direction so going after a forward that helps our top 6 could be the move here. Sign forsberg and go after a top 6 forward via trade or signing has to be the play

Well, the whole deal is obvious. The immediate cap savings for Tampa plus the buyout option on Myers giving them a credit if they choose to do so. I'm not sure what you are asking though.. What does "opposite happened" mean? The opposite would be the trade not happenning at all... Are you asking for thoughts on the trade not happening? And with your comment, are you saying my thoughts on the trade are too obvious? I don't know what else to say... It makes sense for both sides. But I also feel like Tampa could have gotten something more valuable out of trading McDonagh. I'm trying to contribute to the conversation here, but your post is vague.

I can’t post it the way it happened Capfriendly already updated. Had to reverse the trade to post. The casuals would clearly say that the Preds win the trade and it is not close. The hard core fans know about the cap situations around the league

Good trade for Nashville because it improves their defense significantly at virtually no cost; GREAT trade for Tampa because it allows them to keep their entire roster intact minus 2 players (they'll probably have to move Killorn).

Oh ok. Well, NSH definitely isn't going to flip him. So, they are obviously planning on contending. This also probably means they are going to sign Forsberg and most likely go after another top 6 player as well. Possibly even another RHD from outside of the organization. But they definitely think they can contend next season, and they are probably right.

As for Tampa, this obviously helps them out A TON with their cap situation. They are still going to contend next season as well. Maybe they will meet in the final. That would be kinda interesting.

We got McDonagh for free. I don’t like the idea of playing him or Ekholm on their weak side but it can and has been done. I think with getting mcd for free was just too good of a deal Poile to pass up but now we can flip one of our dmen named carrier, Fabbro, or Ekholm for forward upgrade

I think if someone added this deal on here before it happed last week or something they would have and it be called unrealistic and skint value for McDonagh

Yeah. I absolutely agree with that. Tampa fans would've hated it. But now they are probably calling Brisebois "a genius" and "a cap wizard". If Myers doesn't work out on their roster, it's another win win. They could either buy him out for the cap credit or they could dangle him and his cap credit before the deadline in front of teams desperate for cap space.
