Description
Allegedly anyway, CAR is letting Trocheck walk. I know we've all been arguing over Strome, Copp, and Chytil so far, but Trocheck is absolutely everything NYR wants/needs at 2C. Size. Grit. Skill. And holy ****ing ****, did I mention his FO% is over 50??? He's been a Certified Ranger Killer for years, and seems to always show up in the clutch moment. Now could be the perfect time, at the expense of losing just about all the TDL acquisitions.

Motte can be signed in place of Braun, or running a sub 23 man roster.

I feel like Kreider and Trocheck would blend better than Panarin and Trocheck... I know it may be a sin to split up Kreider and Zibanejad, but feel free to reverse it as needed. As much as I want to get Goodrow off of the 4th line, I just can't with this lineup... but, if Krabstuff cries back to Russia, elevate Goodrow to the 3rd. Ultimately going this route will likely spell the end for Chytil in NYR, but everything else should work.

I see Kakko getting 2 years esp if $2M. They’ll have to try and convince Trouba to waive his NMC a year early.

$19M to fill 11 roster spots.

I expect Miller to get a contract like Lindgren’s, and Lafreniere probably a little more than that. So roughly $12M to sign/replace Chytil, Kravtsov, Blais, Rooney, Reaves, Braun, Hunt, Jones, and backup goalie. That shouldn’t be impossible.

Not happening with Trocheck…if they had 6M available, they’d extend Copp for around 5.5M.

Problem is the math just doesn’t work out for next year. 2024 maybe things loosen up a bit- but summer of 2023 is gonna be an adventure- especially if there is a big signing this year (for more than 1 year)

Very easily... Miller gets a similar Lindgren contract at 3mil, Lafreniere gets a bridge deal at 4mil. 10.4mil in space to fill 9 or so bottom pieces. Again, Chytil is the sacrifice in this model, but the rest definitely works

Copp or Strome are absolutely getting a 5.5mil contract. This is just a fantasy scenario where you get a much better player at just an extra 500k.

Thank you for being able to do math!

Not trying to be critical of your effort here...it's just that any scenario where NYR have a big signing (or addition via trade) is going to require one of LaF, Chytl, or Miller to be moved next year- unless they can unload one of their big contracts- all which have NMCs attached.

In your scenario- Chytl is the guy to go next year. I'm just not a fan of that...not only did we get a glimpse in the playoffs of how he might be able to play- if given enough opportunity and the right line mates- but by moving him another hole at C is opened...the position the NYR organization has the least depth. And one more thing: I know NYR have to do what they gotta do to get to 2024...when it might become a bit easier to move at least one of the big contracts...but at some point they need to extend players off ELCs with a max deals- not bridge contracts.

I disagree with the hole at center. Barclay Goodrow absolutely had to be signed with the idea that he will be the 3C. This opens the door for this to finally happen, and a Rooney or Brodzinski or a rental or whomever can slot in at 4C.

Chytil is definitely good and can get better, but the window is right now and Trocheck is miles ahead of him. If Chytil ever becomes better than - or on the same level with - Trocheck, I would be insanely surprised
