If Tkachuk wants out then the Flames have no choice. They won't get better value back than Marner so why would they want to start a rebuild if they can avoid it

The deal is really Marner for Tkachuck I was being lazy and just added Muzzin in as part of the deal but they would have the cap for him

He's on record saying he "would absolutely love to sign long term in Calgary." This whole "he wants out" notion is very outdated

What they say publicly and what happens are 2 different things. I am not saying he wants out but if Gaudreau leaves how does that affect him?

Flames won't be moving Tkchuck, there is a possibility they are forced to move Mangipane but only if they can't find suitor for Monohan or Lucic.
Personally I would love to get Mangipane in TO for the top 6, he's better version of Hyman and would likely be a consistent 60/70 pt winger in TOs top 6

Not likely if Gaudreau moves or signs elsewhere it just makes Tkchuck the star in Calgary

if Gaudreau leaves and it effects Tkachuk I would have even less interest in 3 years Marner. Calgary would logically rebuild instead

not necessarily. Treliving would be interested in saving his job and selling tickets to adding Marner could help with both

It's already been reported that if Johnny walks Calgary isn't going to make panic moves. Marner doesn't sell more tickets than Tkachuk

Matthews is on record saying he wants to stay in TO and would have signed for longer term but it would have been a higher cap so they found a compromise. And yet, everyone on here loves to say he's leaving in 2 seasons without a doubt. So reports don't matter on here. I feel your pain.

Fun idea thanks for sharing.

Matt T is not signing that deal and I expect him to hold out for more just like his brother did.

Johnny hockey will sign back in Calgary or move to New Jersey or Philly or Pittsburgh (replace Malkin)

You evaluation of dollars for the leaf resigns seems realistic but I think Engvall will be higher ( 3 x 1.75) is my guess

I don’t think Campbell signs for less then 5 million a year. He loves Toronto and you did add 5th year but still think he gets paid more.

Maybe he doesn't sell more tickets because Tkachuk is a very good agitator and that is a big part of his game. Now this last season was Tkachuk's breakout yr, can he repeat it Idk. Tkachuk 431 games 152 goals and 382 points. Marner 427 games 138 goals and 455 points. Now there is no doubt Tkachuk has a physical element that is near the top of the league, but production wise there not even close. Now barring injury Marner will get around 100 points next season. The big question is can Tkachuk match this past season? NEITHER TEAM WOULD MAKE THIS TRADE. You as a flames fan love Tkachuk and myself as a leafs fan love Marner. Two great players that can't be replaced by either team.
