Two year rebuild

Created by: GM69
Team: 2023-24 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2022
Published: Jul. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Drafting Wright at #2, Nemec at #3, and Lekkerimaki at # 7 in 22, keeping all in Chl/Europe for the d+1 season. Tank for Bedard.

Obviously, all speculation but this could make hockey in Arizona actually mean something. Add in the fact that Matthews will be UFA in a few years, they could have something special in the desert. They’ll need to hit on a few 2nd rounders for defense and depth.

I wouldn’t trade 7th for Schmaltz. In a package for Keller, sure

Pitt declines, the whole reason to move pettersson is to get rid of a LD

what makes you think that ur gonna get first round overall again. what if you don't. I mean it's possible for yotes to get Bedard, but I don't really see it happening.

The coyotes are gonna be very bad again next year so obviously the goal is too land Bedard. But even if they don’t land the 1st overall pick, the top of 2023 draft is absolutely loaded. Michkov is going to be a high-end winger and would go first overall is most other drafts then Dvorsky & Fantilli can both be very good top line centers in the league. So not landing Bedard isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Not an Arizona fan, just showing that a rebuild rn can really work in their favor. Even if Wright gets picked #1 they can do Cooley and Nemec with Bedard next year. The best teams have two top centers and a #1 defenseman.

The point is also to clear another 2m in cap this year, and 4m the following year.

I based this off the NYR stepan trade where they got ADA + 7 for Stepan. Obviously, Stepan was more proven than Schmaltz but Schmaltz just had almost a PPG season on a bad Arizona team. Added a very early 2nd rounder plus an additional one to even the value. But yeah I get it, just chose Ottawa because it's been rumored they would move #7 for immediate help.
