Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2022
Published: Jul. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Plan on D would be to rotate Gio, Muzzin, Lili, Brodie, Sandin. The older guys would benefit from playing a bit less in terms of injury. It also let's Sandin play games on the right without relying on him to play there all year.

Yes I traded for Miles then assumed he wouldn't sign a deal that fit under the cap for Toronto. Kinda like Rodriquez in the Kapanen trade.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Wood, Miles [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 7th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
I don't think he will get a qualifying offer so Toronto just gets a few days to try and workout a deal.
NJD
    Rights to Jack Campbell
    2.
    TOR
    1. 2022 4th round pick (ARI)
    Additional Details:
Holl fits the style of game I assume they will play under a very defensive minded head coach.
    3.
    TOR
    1. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
    CHI
    1. Duszak, Joseph [RFA Rights]
    2. Mrázek, Petr
    3. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
    4.
    TOR
    1. 2022 6th round pick (LAK)
    Additional Details:
Could be any time. Elliott Friedman said more than half the league wanted to trade for his rights which is why I did a 6th not a 7th. Rumour is LA still want another impact forward so that's why I put them as a placeholder.
    LAK
      Right to Mikheyev
      5.
      TOR
      1. Bear, Ethan [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Carolina has given teams permission to talk to Bear so they clearly are looking to move on. Kase can help replace some of the forwards it seems they will lose to free agency at a lower cost.
      CAR
      1. Kase, Ondrej [RFA Rights]
      6.
      TOR
      1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
If it's true that Edmonton is looking for an impact 3C and wants to move Pulju and values him at a late 2nd/early 3rd then this is a fair deal that gets them what they want at a decent value.
      7.
      TOR
Arizona retains half of Kerfoot. It's $375k in cash and a $1.75M cap hit so again helps them save real money and get a pick.

Winnipeg has no need for replacement level defenseman.

Don't know why the Hawks would trade Strome for so little or Strome would sign for little iff you think he's a 2nd string centre. Hard pass on Douglas and Anderson in the top 12.

Well it looks like Winnipeg would have zero defenceman then, (every defenceman is replacement level except Makar Hedman so on and so forth) Winnipeg doesn't have that. The point is Holl is a more than serviceable PKr and eats minutes.

Why do people keep acquiring Strome? It's like he's the flavor of the week. The guy is the exact opposite of what the leafs need. He's never played a full season and couldn't out hit an old-timer's league team. 11 Hits last season. Soft is overrating his physical play.

I agree two mill is expensive for a 7/8 but we both know he isn't a 7/8.
