Definitely a interesting trade proposal there with Pittsburgh. Don't think the Sabres do it though. Tage blossomed at C

One good defender and a pile of spare parts don’t get you a potential number one Center, or in Pittsburgh’s case as good a number two as they’re going to have post Malkin. Even if they couldn’t afford to resign him next year, another good season pretty much guarantees they can trade him for more than this pile of spare parts. This is the kind of trade the Sabres mistakenly made for O’Reilly, they aren’t doing that twice.

We can't afford to acquire Marcus Pettersson for a draft pick. At least $2.5 million in cap has to go back.

Why exactly is BUF giving up 2 guys with 40-goal potential for a bunch of prospects and Marino? BUF doesn't really need anymore prospects, especially after having 11 upcoming picks in this year's draft.

HARD pass.

Buffalo is no where close to competing in a stacked Atlantic… one could argue they are the furthest away from winning….

My thoughts exactly…
What do you suggest? I’m scanning the roster but tbh I’ve hated playing you guys so much I’ve ignored your players lol

Yes a first round pick, poulin (1st round), Blomqvist (2nd round), blueger (one of the best defensive centers in the league) all definitely classify as spare parts

What Do you think gets a trade done?
Our prospects I was proposing to send back are solid (top 2 rounds draft choices the last couple years) there’s the first round pick, a top-4 RHD, great defensive centre

Your esteemed colleague @Hullsy09 and I have been kicking around the idea of Sean Walker for Marcus Pettersson, perhaps with some draft pick adjustment(s).

Esteemed? Sheeeeeesh idk how far I’d go lol
He’s a fairly new poster orrrrrr and old one with a new account… lol 😂
No offense @Hullsy09

That interesting…
Don’t know very much about Walker but I will look into it…

Lowkey I think a pettersson trade might be the olli maatta deal 2.0… like trading an younger but established left Scandinavian defenseman for a depressed asset pribba forward…
Like the maatta for kahun deal…
I wonder if CHI would take a peek at pettersson bc they have at least 3 forwards in need of a fresh start or that they just don’t want there (strome, kubalik, borgstrom)

I actually like both those prospects. Poulin has the look of a nice power forward the way he's progressing. Blomqvist is still young, can never have enough goalie's in your system. But he probably isn't a piece we need and could take Teddy out, we have are own in Asplund. Why is Bishop there, are you using him as LTIR

Blueger is signed for 1 year and could walk, and Poulin may be Pittsburgh’s best prospect but he isn’t even top-five in the Sabres system. Buffalo doesn’t need more prospects as much as they need more NHL players who are ready to make this team a playoff team. They have a pile of draft choices and probably don’t need any help stocking the prospect pool. Thompson is a young player with team control, and currently making next to nothing for what he can put up. Buffalo still has to sell tickets the next season and trading away their leading goal scorer from a year ago for a pile of maybe isn’t exactly going to help that.

@OldNYIfan

Pettersson to NYI…

What about…

Pettersson

For

Keifer bellows and a 5th round pick

Or would you do varlamov with retention?

Or would you do a pettersson + assets to try to pry beauvilier or Nelson away?

Yeah bishop was just to take him off your hands kinda bc I’m pretty sure FSG has more slush fund cash to waste than Buffalo lol 😂

He's the perfect contract, decent cap hit, but doesn't actually cost you anything.
