Devils decline, Bratt is as good as or better than Miller and significantly younger. Garland isn't worth enough to trade down so far.

A real offer for Bratt starts with Demko.

This past season JFresh had Bratt at 92nd percentile for WAR and Miller at 85th.

Bratt was nearly a point per game this year, his draft year plus 6 season. In his D+6, Miller had 56 points in a full 82 games, at the time his career high.

Miller has eclipsed a point per game twice in his career, and at 29 this year's 99 points are more than likely going to be his career high. Bratt is 23, and has 3-5 years of prime immediately in front of him.

Miller has one year left before hitting UFA, whereas Bratt can be signed to 7, or bridged for 3 and then signed to 8 for 11 years of control.

Trading JT means it is instantly a step back season. However, I really don’t see how this team can contend for bottom 5. Probably come somewhere between 23rd and 15th.

If Canucks want to make the playoffs next year they can’t afford to lose miller

I like Bratt a lot but better than miller? C’mon. Bratt is 23, that’s why he is worth so much on the trade market, Miller scores more, plays tougher minutes, is more versatile, and obviously brings a physical element to the game that Bratt does not.

Bratt is very Good. Miller is better. Garland is also very good. Not as good as Bratt, but far far better than Tatar.

Devils upgrade in both cases here

JB had some of the best underlyings in the league, and is a young PPG player. That plus 2OA means you needs to give up more than 2 worse forwards and a trade down out of the best portion of this draft class

Clearly you've never seen Bratt play, since he's playing first line minutes and scoring plenty. See my other comment.

Miller might be the better player right now, but Bratt is the better asset. He's early 20s and put up nearly point per game last year vs a guy in his 30s.

"Just a 7th" or not, Seattle isn't committing 9 million of their cap space on those 2 players. Easiest. Pass. Ever.

Garland literally had better underlying numbers than Bratt last year. Bratt is the better player of course, but underlying numbers aren’t everything.

I have seen Bratt play. He’s dynamic and skilled and is a great driver of offense. I think he would work great in a line with Petey and Boeser. That’s why I’d be will to trade literally Vancouvers best forward to aquire him even though it makes the Canucks worse next year, because getting a long term top line player is valuable.

Bratt is not as good as JT. Bratt has had one exceptional year, JT has been exceptional since joining vancouver and frankly was still very good before then.

This trade makes New Jersey much better immidietly

They are 5 years apart. Almost the same age difference between garland and Tatar…

It makes them better immediately, but for the long term it's infinitely better to keep Bratt than to dish him for one year of Miller.

Irrelevant. Garland is worlds better than Tatar, Tatar may as well be a cap dump in this trade. Bratt is worth significantly more than Miller because of age and contract.

How is citing JFresh yikes, and did you even read the rest of what I wrote? Even if Miller was better this past year, he's 28 and a UFA at the end of the year, where Bratt is 23 and an RFA

Garland 2 years older than Bratt with a better deal than Bratt will sign. In the players card you posted, Garland is pretty much on par with Bratt in GSVA and WAR.

So if Bratt is worth so much because of age and contract and you are getting a mid 20’s player on a good contract who has comparable underlying numbers AND an 80+ point player who plays wing and centre AND dumping 4.5 million in cap…

Idk seems like you’re overrating Bratt or underrating the Canucks players coming your way.

Btw here’s a model that shows Garland was better last year than Bratt

Let's assume Bratt and Garland are worth the same. I don't think so, but for now I'll roll with that assumption. The deal then is 2oa and Tatar for one year of Miller and 15oa. Miller is good, but one year of him is not worth the difference between Wright or Slafkovsky and whoever is there at 15. Tatar may be a cap dump, but the Devils don't need to dump cap. The better move for the future of the Devils is to hold onto Bratt and make the pick at 2oa. If they want immediate help, there are plenty of UFAs or cheaper trade targets, such as Gaudreau, Marchment, and Puljujarvi.

Thats not what he said. He said better than JT which is ludicrous then added one qualifying point as an asset being age which is as dumb as calling Bratt better than Crosby then adding his age as a factor. You dont mix and match your own reality.

Well, that's what **I** am saying. That's why I wouldn't trade Bratt for Miller.
