Description
Idea here is to solidify the top 6 (Copp) while moving a very valuable player (Miller).

Not sure about the valuations in this deal- not familiar with where LA stands on Pinelli (a real good prospect going into D+2 year who I'm guessing jumps from juniors to AHL this year).

Moving Miller would sidestep the cap crunch next year, all the while adding a C prospect to the NYR shallow C depth....a prospect who currently projects as an eventual top 6 C.

Of course NYR D takes a hit...but this is a position of organizational strength.

In the end, the question is who is more important to this team going forward:
Miller as a cornerstone to NYR D?
or
Copp as a pillar of the F group going forward?
NOTE: depending on $, Trocheck might even be an option in this type scenario (if prefered over Copp)

Kings would go for this. Pinelli is a quality prospect, but the Kings have too many center prospects ahead of him at the moment, and they have an obvious need at LHD.

this is a weird move. i don't see the rangers moving on from miller unless they get a crazy return. and this return would have to be an established nhl player

Kings would take this and run. Can I ask why you would want Pinelli? Hes a b+ prospect. Turcotte and Vilardi are the better players/prospects.

K'Andre has the highest upside out of all our D men. There's no reason to trade him. He made the top 4 out of camp. He's poised to pay out better than a 2C.

Delete before other fan bases read this lol. Fox KAM & BS are our future D core! Hopefully with Robertson. Jones & Nils are expendable. Lindgren & Trouba may be gone in a few years. Copp is average and soon overpaid

in what world does it make sense to keep Copp over Miller?

Echoing my friend @Enrique, we offer you your choice of Pinelli, Turcotte or Vilardi plus our 2022 second for Miller.

As I said in the description, the idea behind this is to move from a position of depth to acquire a C who projects as a top 6 C. Don't know much about Pinelli except that he's a very young prospect with some potential. Miller, of course is a top 4 D right now- and has a lot more upside....so yeah- to appease all the NYR fans who want me to delete this- to make this deal I guess would want more coming back to NYR...I just wouldn't get hung up on the valuation here. The idea of this lineup is to solidify C depth and top 6 F corps, while pushing the cap crunch back to when it will be more manageable- when one or more of the big contracts can be moved.

To anyone who's locked into KAM with this D- I really have no problem with that...the guy is a really good young player, already in top 4, and a lot of growth still left in his game...but you do have to give to get. If this deal is not it- then that's fine....just putting out there an idea to generate some C depth (with young guys who project top 6) all the while avoiding the 2023 CAP crunch. And if in doing so they can get Copp to come down a little bit from the 5.5M he seems stuck on- I think he can outplay that contract.

It seems LA has soured considerably on Turcotte and Villardi. Not sure where either of these guys has fallen short- but while NYR wouldn't mind either- NYR wouldn't accept as centerpiece of a return on Miller. As far as Pinelli- I admitedly don't know much about him. I included him here to get a discussion started regarding the recycling of talent from a position of strength to a position of dire need. Seeing the responses, this idea hasn't been accepted too well- which is fine for discussion sake- but obviously if such an idea were to go to fruition considerably more that Pinelli and a 2022 2nd would have to come back for Miller.
