Romanov Sign Pls Papi

Created by: PapaHabitant
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2022
Published: Jul. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Draft Day: Hoffman and/or Petry will be gone, Montreal only makes 9 draft picks and uses the rest to gain 2023/24 draft picks or to move up into the top 15.

Draft Wright and let him have another year in the OHL to develop, Team will be bad which is good cause MTL wants another top 2 pick next year as well. So we embrace the tank again and let wright have another year in the OHL putting up good numbers

PK Signing is just to have a spot filled, they really just need another Vet on D for anything under 2mil and no longer then 2 years.

Payment for the term, yes it might be a lot for the next 2 years but when the cap goes up again he could easily ask for 6+ if he continues to eat 1st pair minutes under MSL

Edit: almost like a klefbom type of deal but Romanov hopefully won't face injury problems

Mike Reilly played top minutes with Petry when Weber was out when he arrived
Does that mean he made that much?

I've been a Romanov guys since before you knew who he was mostly because of who his Grandfather is (scottie bowman of russia)
He's not worth that nor will he ever be despite being really good and capable of more .

Romanov will always CHOOSE to focus on his Big Hits since the days i watched him as a 17 year old lay out a seasoned KHL Goon then draw a Penalty off it.
Its what set him apart but unfortunately that means he'll never shoot first or become more as seen at every Pro Level he's been in

Im not saying he's not capable , he is as seen with 2 WJ tournaments in which he was top guy overall and pts leader for Dmen
But there he was surrounded by guys who were Hit First stay at home D who did his job Well but couldnt play offensively

The only way we see that happen again is buy packing out bottom 4 D with Big Bodies who hit hard and often
This will force Romanov to adopt the shoot first mentality again that he seems to not enjoy and avoid.
Just look at him after a big hit the sense of Pride he has and how much higher he carries his head.
He enjoys the fact that he's the Micheal Jordan of laying out Hits as his defy Physic's with much bigger players
Who have momentium who should destroy him somehow always end up on the Ice looking up at him
(Pietrangello in WCF is the best example, i still re-watch that hit over and over it was Brutal and Ruthless)

At Best Romanov's looking at a 2.75m contract over 3 years under this Gm and former player Agent known for his Negotiating Skills in Mr Hughes.
While you or i might be ok with Overpaying him i really doubt he will go higher then 3.75m on 5-7 year term at best. Dmen who score points get big paydays but those who dont rarely do

Not that you'll read anything over 6 lines anyways lol
