DeAngelo DOES NOT LEAVE

Created by: rhenry18
Team: 2022-23 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2022
Published: Jul. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tony DeAngelo has gotten permission to talk with other teams but I feel as if he will eventually come back to Carolina after realizing the importance of Carolina helping revive his career. I believe they will sign a lengthy deal as well.

Really? I think they'd be jumping for joy over 2 picks for a useless player that has no marketable skills other teams are looking for. Even the 6th by itself would be a blessing if the Canes (or any other team) were willing to take on Bjork and his cap hit.

I like the Romanov trade but Montreal probably says no

I'd do the Seattle trade

No real point in trading Keane unless he wants to leave

The Cat trade is around what i would expect give or take, but we'd probably get outbid by another team.

No point in that Bjork trade, we can get a better 4th liner cheaper and without giving up assets.

As mentioned above - don’t think Habs or Hawks trades move the needle enough.

I know you really want it to be that time, but we are 2 years away from Morrow…be patient.

This is a very binary way of thinking about things in a portion of the world that isn’t binary. The Canes can want to re-sign him for what he’s worth, and simultaneously grant him permission to independently check his worth in the market. Either way, we will find out soon enough since he has Arb rights.

binary is an expansive language. If I wanted to retain him, I wouldnt let him check his worth with other teams unless hes over evaluating himself and negotiations are going nowhere, which I havent heard anything like that

Don Waddell has said exactly this - they want to bring Tony back and have given his representation both long term and short term options.
