Pray for Mike Grier

Created by: Iggy11
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2022
Published: Jul. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Unfortunately SJ is stuck with both Burns and Karlsson unless they retain heavy and somebody gets desperate to add Burns
- Buying out Vlasic was a toss up, but with ownership wanting a "competitive" rebuild, I think this gives Grier some breathing room

Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Compher, J.T.
  2. Kaut, Martin
Additional Details:
SJ uses Compher in the middle 6 and can deal at the TDL, Kaut gets a decent opportunity with a less than impressive right side
COL
  1. Nieto, Matt
  2. Reimer, James
Additional Details:
COL goes tandem with Reim-Pavel while letting Keumper walk so they can sign Kadri and Nuke, get a quality bottom 6er to for their troubles
2.
SJS
  1. Dach, Kirby [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Don't understand how quickly CHI has soured on Dach, think he gets a decent leash in SJ in hopes he becomes a building block for the future
CHI
  1. Dahlén, Jonathan [RFA Rights]
  2. Wiesblatt, Ozzy
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
I think this may be an underpay, was tempted to put Gushchin in the deal but I think he might be SJ's best prospect not named Eklund, so I went with a 2nd instead -- could be less could be more, don't know what value Dach has in CHI

Can’t see CHI doing this
Avs need a starter, Franz health is one thing and Reimer isn’t a starter

I think if sharks retain a couple mil and Arizona retains a couple mil in a karlson trade there would be a bunch on interest, but maybe that’s just me

Hopefully he got a 5 yr deal, and Wilson type loyalty shown. Crazy how many awful contracts and potential awful contracts.

You’re not wrong in seeing the value he brings but the possibility of SJ retaining cap on him is tough to visualize when they’re already pressed against the cap pretty good.

You’re using rational thought for both trades, but hearing Dach’s name thrown around leaves the door open for something like this imo. The Avs deal is predicated on Keumper falling victim to COL retaining Naz and Nuke at big money, which is where I see the possibility of them falling short of grabbing a starter. Overall I agree with your sentiment thoigh.
