We're going to trade Max Comtois, a 23-year-old with the upside of his career ahead of him, for a 28-year-old rental who's already reached his peak and is more expensive? And then add a draft pick? Wow.

Puljujarvi is an RFA and at least a young, big, strong, fast, middle six forward who fore checks effectively and plays a solid 200-foot game. He has a role with the Oilers, the questions regarding his future with the team are founded on cryptic statements made by Ken Holland and concern that JP's contract demands may not align with the value Edmonton assigns to him.

Holl's value to Edmonton would be dependent on whether Holland is able to trade Tyson Barrie, sign Brett Kulak, and/or find another veteran RD capable of playing a depth role for the Oilers on a value contract. He is a 30-year-old depth defenseman in the final year of his contract. In Edmonton, Holl would likely play behind Ceci and Bouchard, supporting Broberg and Neimenlainen and perhaps getting some reps on the PK.

There is a significant imbalance between the central pieces of your trade proposal. Toronto's 2023 4th round draft pick and a depth prospect do not address that imbalance because they do nothing to help the Oilers now, and quite possibly never will.

The Comtois trade is honestly laughable. Consider the fact that there’s another team that has to actually agree to these trades, and that your proposal is the exact opposite of what their management strategy should be.. trading away rentals and adding young promising players with term and team control

If Puljujarvi is is willing to sign at $2M x 3, he will remain an Edmonton Oiler.
