MTL has already said that the offer will have to blow them away for them to move Anderson....this absolutely isn't it.

Yes we currently have a reported offer of 13th OVA for Josh Anderson but we are just going to ignore that and go with a 2nd and a throw away fringe NHL player instead! Montreal passes obviously!

I’m calling BS on that report. Anderson has broken .5 ppg once in his career, 4 years ago. No way he returns 13 OA.

You can call whatever you want but even if that report is not true teams are calling about Josh and Hughes has turned down good offers according to guys like Freidman and Lebrun. This is not a "good offer"

I wasn’t advocating for this trade at all. There is just no way that 13OA is on the table without significant add from the Canadiens.
I generally think that for forwards above 2-3 million, a reasonable rule of thumb is about .1million for every point that you expect roughly. (Some recent examples: Fiala 7.9 mil avg, 85 points; Bryan rust 5.125 avg, 58 points)
So with Anderson’s contract, you should expect ~50 points a season if you are getting fair value. Anderson’s career high was 47 points 4 years ago, and his next best season was 32 points. He is overpaid and has 5 years left, IMO I would not want him at this price.

You do realize that is a ridiculous way to gauge the value of a contract right?! Sure it works in some cases like the ones you described but look at Barzal are you saying he is overpaid at 7 mil cause he only scored 59 points? Tuch had 38 points last year and is paid 4.75 mil does that mean he is overpaid? Tavares has never been over 100 points so I guess he is extremely overpaid. Your rule of thumb is full of crap, other things go into a player's salary than just points.

Absolutely true that other things go into contract besides points. You also picked a couple players that didn’t play full seasons, if you prorated barzal to 82 games he’d have 66 points, and Tuch 62. This was just a rough approximation +-10 points is entirely reasonable. And yes, Tavares is definitely overpaid. 4 players have a higher cap hit than Tavares. Is he a top 5 player in the league? Definitely not.

While this $.1M per point metric is totally untrue (think any defensman or defensive forward, goalies etc) but Tuch didn't play a full season and at 11 million Tavares is absolutely overpaid, as is Josh anderson

You can cherry pick stats all you want to try to prove your point but Barzal is not a defensive forward or a defenseman and Tuch is injured more often than Josh Anderson yet you seem to think Josh is injury prone and Tuch is god's gift to hockey.

Cherry pick stats? Never mentioned any but lets look... Anderson and Tuch have literally played the same amount of games over the last 3 seasons at 147 each and Tuch obviously had more points but is no way gods gift to hockey nor did i say that.

No idea what you were referencing with Barzal, he's not a defensive forward or a defenseman... so shouldn't his stats/points count even more towards his value?

Overall you're a bum dude, not sure what else to say

You said that your rule of thumb for player salaries was 0.1 mil per point, Barzal is paid 7 mil so he (by your "rule of thumb") is overpaid significantly.

Seriously are you that immature that you are going to start name calling cause you have your "rule of thumb" questioned?!

you're talking about another poster my man, read extra carefully this time wink I was wondering why you were getting all feisty with me for seemingly no reason, I was originally agreeing with you that the .1 million per point thing made no sense, then you just started spewing some tomfoolery

If my calling you a bum offended you I extend my sincerest apologies, feel better!
