Draft value chart says Dvorak would need to be worth a 24th OA pick to be equal to the 7 OA with the other 3 picks. Christian was traded for a 1st and a 2nd less than a year ago, He's still widely view'd as a good top9 center at a reasonable contract. That isnt lopsided when the value is staring at you in the face!

The correct wording is also.. Please read out loud to yourself, what you just wrote. not whatever that arm for leg and leg for arm type thought you just had.

just because Bergevin overpaid for him doesn't necessarily mean that's his actual value - he's a solid 2-way center who's shown to be a 40-45 pts/82 GP kind of scorer, with a 3x$4.45M left. His value is probably more in line with a guy like Viktor Arvidsson, if a little lower - Arvidsson had 3x$4.25M left on his deal last summer when he was traded and got back a 2nd and a 3rd. I'll give you that centers are more valuable than wingers, but I think Arvidsson's offensive abilities (3 30+ goal seasons) more than make up the gap.

Dvorak's fair value probably peaks at a 2nd/3rd package.

Everyone agrees that the Kings underpaid for Arvidsson. Also, the 2nd and 3rd return is in line with a late 1st. No one denies that Bergevin overpaid but Dvorak is still a valuable contributor and had another good season on a very bad team.

Remember what McDonough got. Heavy pass for Petry to be our 3rd pairing dman with 3 years left at over 6M. Habs can keep that awful contract that has 0 value to the wings

It cost Carolina #40 & #51 to move up to #27 in last year's draft so I'd push back a little on that highlighted part.

Even if you want to say Dvorak's value is equal to #32 it's not enough. You're offering #26, #62, #98, and what we're overvaluing as #32 for -Ottawa's- #7OA pick. The Sens have so many young players coming up towards the NHL that I can't envision them taking the pu pu platter of picks over the chance to draft a potential impact player there. You're going to have to blow them away to get them to consider it, and that deal is quantity over quality and easy for them to pass on.

@dannibalcorpse

Dorion just offered the 7th pick for Murray's retained salary. The trade turns out it's lopsided, indeed, Dorion obviously doesnt value this draft much. Habs shouldnt give up more than a few 2nd rounders for the 7th OA if that is the price.
