Most of his career hes been solid defensively at even strength, he has a reputation for being a liability because he was brutal during one of Toronto's playoff runs. Just like Devon Toews, obviously they are not in the same tier of defenseman but I still see isles fans saying Toews is a liability when hes on the same level as pelech defensively.

I don't mind signing Cole for 1 year, I just think there's upside with Gardiner at 2 mill, definitely not 4 mill.
