This looks worse then last year other then the defence,Brodie isn’t a bottom pair btw. Your signing a guy to play on the fourth line for 3.5 million. Putting Robertson on the third won’t do anything. The fourth line is the old man line. Clifford with simmonds is a terrible idea. Simmonds can be ur extra guy but trade Clifford, unsign staal, put Robertson in the ahl. So you’d probably have about 4-5 million left. You could sign some really good depth pieces

So the Hawks are going to give up the best asset (newsflash a top 40 pick in the '23 draft is the best piece here) for the privilege of pay a mediocre injury prone goalie 8.6 over the next couple of seasons, to get a grab bag assortment of midget AHL level Russians and a third pairing D?

-SDA/Holl/Malgin(lol) isn't worth a 2nd; and Mrazek has negative value so you're really not even getting a 7th for him. Maybe the Hawks say yes if Toronto's the one trading away a 2nd in that deal, but that's the only way I see it happening.

-Anaheim is a couple years away from contending most likely - why would Jake Muzzin waive his NTC to go from a contender to a rebuilding team?

-Not sure what Arizona gets out of this deal - Kerfoot is a pending UFA so you're basically giving them a pile of meh prospects and whatever picks they can get out of Kerfoot at the deadline for those picks. Can't see them really getting excited about that.

Paying Staal $3.5M for the 4th line is insane - dude didn't play any NHL games this year and turns 38 this year. If you -really- want him you can sign him for probably $800Kish and use that extra $2.7M to actually build out a 23 man roster so you have guys to slot in if someone gets banged up and needs a night off.

Hawks are rebuilding , why would we give up a high 2nd round pick to take your cap dumps ??
